Boy Issues

"Celeste please come out." She's locked herself in the bathroom and she came home early. Two and a half hours early. As in she's skipping school. Out of all the kids. I'd never imagine she's the first one to skip class.

I am scared out my mind because the last time I found her in the bathroom she tried to end her life.

Madison isn't home and I'm trying to figure out what's wrong and the only thing I got was a note slipped under the door that said 'Boy's suck!' Which has given me slight relief.

Then there's pounding on the front door.

I run downstairs and swing it open and glare at the boy.

"Jayden it was a huge misunderstanding. I-" he shuts up when I take a step toward him.

"What did you do?"

"She saw me talking to Kehlani... who cornered me, not the bad way and before anything happened which nothing was going to, I saw the flash of brown hair run. I chased after her. She got into an Uber and I ran here."

I take a step back, "you ran here?"

"I'm not not wearing a shirt and covered in sweat from nothing!" I guess joining the track team in grade eight did him justice as his parents were so against it. Mostly thinking the only reason he joined was for her.

"Isaiah if nothing happened why is she upset?"

"Days ago I told her that Kehlani told me she likes me. Well indirectly but it still happened. She needed to know because she kept questioning me about avoiding her. And what she didn't know that Kehlani respects my relationship with her and wouldn't try to get in the way with that. I was talking to Kehlani because she's the only one who knows Celeste more than me. I was planning on finally asking her to be my girlfriend."

We all saw this coming. I being the first because Zaya always tried climbing into Cels crib when she was a newborn. But it's been such a long time I let it go. They've always just been friends. Good friends. Cel has asked him out multiple times and he never accepts because he wants to be the one to ask. So I let them be.

"And the closeness?" I get back on topic.

"Do you know how hard it'll be to be away from Celeste? If I'm not with her. Her girl best friend is. So we didn't have time and there were a lot of people around. Do you know what will happen to me if I spill plans in the open like that? I don't think you know how many people would love to be with your daughter but are too scared of her brothers and Lee to approach her. They already think we are together. So if they knew we aren't and that I was brave enough, and in their minds stupid enough to try, they will be too! Anyways Kehlani wanted me to whisper it so she came closer."

I nod. I know Isaiah is a good kid. I let him in the house and he kicks his shoes off and runs upstairs.

"Hey! Put the shirt back on!" I yell.

"Yes sir!" He yells back.

A minute later he comes into the kitchen.

Our eyes meet, "the windows open. She's gone. She left her phone."

This is stressing me.

I pick up my phone and call Mads.

"I know I said I'd have everything under control but your daughter ran away and I have no clue where to start. And the reasoning. We'll put this under boy issues."

"Uh Kehlani?" She suggests.

"Mads she's part of this situation."
