Brooke's POV
I woke to the sound of my brother "Brooke, get up man" he said, throwing some clothes at me. I gave him a glare.

"What for?" I sigh, plopping back into my pillow.

"Were going to the Curtis', spending the whole day there" he said. I sat straight up in bed, eyes wide.

"What about school though?"

"Hell with it, you're skipping" he stated.

"Wait I am!?"

"Yep. So go on, get ready" he said before walking out.

I basically fling outta bed, slipping on some clothes. I looked around for a pair of socks but couldn't find anything. I opened my dresser and pulled out my bag that I brought when I first came here. Maybe I left some in here?

As I'm looking through the front pocket, I was surprised to find a picture. A picture of Dal and I. He was about 6 and I was 3. He was laying on the floor on his stomach, while I was on top of him. Our mother must have took the picture before she split. I sighed and tucked it back away.

After finally finishing getting ready, I ran down stairs and out the door where Dal met me.

We started walking to the Curtis house. "So who's all gonna be hanging out today?" I ask, knowing some of the guys also have work and school.

"All of em. Taking off work and school" he explained. I smiled widely. It wasn't often the gang would get to do this.

Once we made it there, I rushed into the kitchen, almost knocking Skye over in the process.

"Skye we get to skip school today!?" I exclaimed. I then sat next to her, noticing the blue pancakes. "Really, Soda? Blue pancakes?" I raise a brow.

He just grinned, "I'm making purple eggs too!"

We looked at each other and shook our heads. At least Soda is cheerful, unlike Dal.

Soon enough, everyone was here, even Darry. I thought it was strange how even he'd take off work. I mean, it felt like this was our last day on earth or something and they were all trying to spend as much time with Skye and I as possible. What do they think is gonna happen tonight?

"Last one to the park is a soc!" Skye suddenly exclaimed. I smiled, running out right behind her. The gang followed.

Skye and I made it to the field minutes before them, laughing.

"Hey, everything's gonna be okay" she threw an arm around me.

I put my head on her shoulder "I hope so"

A few minute later, the gang showed up. I guess they started walking half way. "Lazy bums" I joked to Skye. She laughed as they walked over.

"Oh, look who finally showed up. Brooke and I here, thought we were gonna have to put out a missing persons ad" Skye chuckled.

"Oh whatever" Twobit waved it off, the rest of the guys muttering protests as well.

"Alright well let's play some ball!" Steve held the ball up.

After playing ball, we all decided to go to a drag race, Skye's idea. I didn't mind it though, I liked em.

"Hey, talked to Shepard, he said there's drag race on Carlton road, Brumley verses Tiger" Dal said. Skye and I looked at each other and smirked. There was always a drag race going on in Tulsa.

We all stood near the road, watching with excitement as the rag was waved and both cars took off flying. Cheering was loud, music was blaring, engines were roaring. It was great.

After the race, we all started back home. Man, this day was a blast. I ran and jumped on Skye's back as we all walked.

"Today was fun, huh?" I said in her ear. She smiled widely.

"The best" she then suddenly turned that smile into a frown. I jumped down off her back, walking beside her. The guys were behind us, talking about the drag race, so they payed no attention.

"What's up?" I ask.

"Just tonight. It's finally here" she took a heavy sigh "I just hope it goes smooth Ya know" she said being all serious. I nodded.

"Me to, Skye. Me to"
