"What," I asked, looking up at Sam, who was clean and in the room, then back at Rachel, who was gasping for breath at the doorway after following my run. "Is this true," I asked the minor and major goddess.
The two looked at each other as if they had a mental connection, then nodded. Rachel straightened, then sighed, "Yes, it is, but we're planning on letting you have a somewhat normal life," she answered.
"'A somewhat normal life,'" I repeated, "what is that supposed to mean?"
Both of the immortal beings sighed, "You know about those books you were telling me about that were pretty much written for Greek, Roman, and Norse," Sam asked, and I nodded. "Your life will be that of a demigod up until the King and Queen die either naturally or by murder," she explained, and I nodded.
"How far are they from dying naturally," I asked, and Rachel shrugged, "You don't know when your King and Queen are going to die naturally?"
"They never have anybody check on their health. The King and Queen like to keep it a secret for all of us except for the fates themselves," she explained. "No one knows why they want to keep it secret," she added, and I nodded.
"Maybe they don't want everyone to freak out about royalty dying," I suggested. All Rachel did was shrug before disappearing.
"She'll be back to keep an eye on Aili," Sam said after the major goddess disappeared. "She just went to check on the King and Queen since their replacements aren't told until much later," she explained, and I nodded.
I felt Aili squeeze my hand, and I looked over, "Why does our life have to change so much," she asked me, and I smiled.
"I don't know," I said with a chuckle, "Maybe because yours truly ordered one of the strongest minor goddesses to get our asses over here. I was told that only the King and Queen could give orders like that," I explained as Aili smiled. "How are you feeling," I asked when she flinched in pain
"It still hurts," she began.
"It's going to hurt for a while, and I can feel it," I said, and she smiled, "it kind of makes me feel bad for any of the pain that you felt when I was shot."
Aili chuckled before flinching, "Yeah, that wasn't good," she said as she raised her left hand and flexed it. "For some odd reason, this hurts too. I don't know why," she added as I blushed.
"I may be able to explain that," I said as I raised my casted hand. Aili arched an eyebrow once she saw it.
"What the hell did you do," she asked, glaring at me.
My lips thinned into a line, "I may have been a dumbass," I began, and she glared at me once more. "When you went into the surgery room, I sank to the floor and started crying," I sighed. "As I was crying, your name disappeared from my wrist. I started punching the floor, sort of hoping that it'd make your name appear again. I passed out while doing it," I said, shaking my head, "I was so stupid to do that."
"No, you weren't," Aili said as she removed her hand from mine and put it on my cheek. "Trust me, if I was awake and saw you get shot, I would probably do the same thing," she paused, brushing a stray tear from my cheek. "Especially if your name disappeared off my wrist, hell you can ask Sam, once I saw that your name was fading, I demanded her to take me to you."
She smiled as I looked up in Sam's direction with a questioning glance, "It's true," she began. "She did. It was a little short of the command that you gave me not too long ago," she explained as I chuckled.
