Hi y'all, so I'm writing this bc I'm seeing too many damn smut and fanfics have really great plots but crappy smut part so I'm making a guide for anyone who wants to write smut and also for myself cause I'm also gonna write another smut book in the future (idk if anyone wants to read it but I'll let y'all know when it comes out). So yeah.
Also pls keep in mind, I'm not a professional author by any means, I just write for fun and these are all my personal opinions and how I write and what I like to read. Constructive criticism welcome, I'd love to hear what you guys like as well!
1. Use Anotomically Correct Names
I find that this one is pretty standard, language you use in smut really effects the way a reader percieves it and initiates intimacy between the characters.
For example, use words like 'breasts', 'nipples', 'clit', and 'penis', instead of 'twin peaks', 'orbs', 'wet honeypot', and 'flesh rod'.
Please, I've literally read these words in smut books and it's such a turn off.
Other names I've found work well for 'penis' are "dick", "length", and "member".
Personally I prefer using these names instead of penis because...actually idk, I just don't like the word penis that much.
Also I've seen a lot of people say they don't like the word 'member'? Is that true, do you guys not like that word? Cause personally I don't mind it but idk, pls let me know.
Also, use 'entrance' as opposed to 'secret entrance' like its not a secret, everyone knows what it is, stop embarassing yourself.
2. Describe the Action and how Characters are Responding
I think this one is really important because it sets a good smut book apart from a great smut book.
Really try to describe what is happening in as much detail as possible. Describe where the charachters are in position with each other, what position they're in, what they're doing, and how they're reacting to each other.
Here, they're a lot of creative freedom and where your charachter's relationship is clearly established.
For example, these are both describing the same action:
He then kissed her. She was backed up against a wall and he picked her up. He touched her boob and she moaned.
Bland, doesn't describe how the action is affecting the characters. You can picture whats happening but that's about it.
VS.
He kissed her slowly and softly. She closed her eyes as he dominated her, her lips being captured by his and her soft body being pushed harshly against a hard wall. Her heart beat quickly in her chest at how gently he was kissing her but at the same time being so rough with her body. Not breaking the kiss, he pulled her legs up to wrap around his waist. She clung onto him, her arms tangled around his neck. He pulled his lips away from hers and began messily kissing her neck. Her breath became ragged as his wet kissed trailed lower down her chest. His hand, which had been holding her butt for support, snaked up under her clothes. She flinched when he caressed her breast. His fingers found her nipple and she moaned, her body being stimulated by both his lips and his fingers.
A lot more descriptive, let's the reader get a clear sense of what's happening. You can clearly see how the relationship between the charachters is defined.
3. Establish the Relationship between the Characters and Context
This kinda goes in hand with the last one but its a litte harder to describe. You can establish what kind of relationship your charachters have throughout your novel, if that's what you're writing, or it can be done quickly in one shots. Having plot and context is super important in smut.
