The hardest
You made me the strongest
So tell me your secrets

Adonis was the last one to make it up to the casket when he got up there he dropped to his knees. Khalil got up & went to console his best friend Rin got up as well & went to console her husband.

"Come on bro get up"

"She ain't supposed to be in this casket man it supposed to be me"

"No, you're right where you need to be Don" Rin said

"I'm so fuckin sorry I'm sorry" he whispered

Don broke down Khalil helped him off the floor & Rin hugged her man. They all walked back to their seats Adonis laid across his wife lap crying.

"I love you Adonis" Rin whispered in Don ear

She rubbed his back & tried to fight back her tears that tried to escape her eyes. The pastor walked up to the podium & started talking.

"We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Cheryl Brewster whom may of you know as maw-maw. Cheryl was a beautiful woman with a kind heart & warm spirt. Cheryl was born September 9th 1967 to her mother Patrice Hubbert & father Raymond Brewster. She had one sister younger sister Christine Brewster, two great nephews Adonis & Dominic & a host of great grandchildren."

The pastor finished up the obituary & allowed people to start saying  things about maw-maw.

"Maw-maw was an amazing woman & judge of character. I met her when I was 19 years old she helped me get on my feet when I had no other place to go. I'll always love and appreciate everything she's done for me"

Khalil got up & went to the podium

"Seeing my brotha break down hurt me cause I can't do nothing to take his pain away. I'm hurting too cause I know how much maw-maw meant to him & myself. Maw-maw treated me like family I met her the same day I met my brotha Don. We fought & maw-maw made us squash the beef  that same night we all was sitting at the dinner table at her house. I've learned so much from her I love you maw-maw I got D I promise you that"

Khalil went back to his seat Rin went up to the podium next.

"Maw-maw treated me & my son like family the very first time she met me. Told me that she was glad that I'd came into her Donny life. Said that I made him a better man & she appreciate me for coming into his life. Maw-Maw was like a grandma to me I'm thankful for even getting the chance to meet her. I love you & I promise to take care of your Donny."

Rin walked away & started crying Janelle went & got her best friend. A couple more people went up to speak before the funeral ended.

....................
"Mommas I ain't even trying to be here I ain't heard from these mf's in years. Now they trying to act like they was there for maw-maw they can kill that shit" I say angrily

"I know baby, but listen we know who was there making sure maw-maw was good. If you want to leave we can leave"

"Nah I know how much you & nelle did to pull this off I appreciate y'all a lot"

"We appreciate you too Don I'm gonna make sure you okay no matter what"

Wrapping my arms around her lower waist I kissed her lips whispered in her ear & said

"I love ya mommas promise ya ain't gonna leave me. I need ya I'm nothing without ya"

"I'm never gonna leave you promise I love you too baby, & we need you here too"

I just dropped my head I ain't never felt this low I've always kept myself together. Now a nigga out here breaking down like a lil pussy. If I didn't have my wife or my kids I'd probably off myself so I could be buried right next to maw-maw.
