6. Kisumi tells a story: Rin and Ikuya's beef over Haru April/May 2021

Friday afternoon they all met at the common place, the coffee shop of Asahi's sister.  Makoto sat next to Haru as usual, facing Asahi and Kisumi, drinking coffee, lemonades, ice teas and eating a variety of food, letting the week take a good end. Asahi and Kisumi started chatting about going to the gym together again. Makoto glanced onto his smartphone more often than ever before. Haru who's tired eyes, looked more often outside the window, appeared somewhat distracted. Although he had two glasses of different lemonades before him, he had grabbed Makoto's glass and had bitten into a beef sandwich. After cleaning his mouth by emptying both glasses all at once, Makoto placed a simple cheese and salad sandwich before him, so Haru could focus on eating this instead of things he didn't recognize. Asahi threw a joke at him to get some glasses. Unexpectedly, Haru replied he'll be picking up his glasses next Monday.

Even Makoto did look surprised at him. It was their first meeting, after returning from Iwatobi, but they have had a longer conversation yesterday evening, after swimming. Haru had called Makoto, who had called him back later, after finishing his coach job. Haru ate quietly, appearing thoughtful.

Rin! – Haru's head shot up quickly, looking around. Who, what?!

Goosebumps, chirping sparrows, butterflies and pink hearts!

Kisumi had said something about Rin, looking at Haru.

Excuse me, what did you say? Haru asked. Makoto was already answering. Rin is back in Sydney for his exams. Kisumi looked at Haru. I just asked where's Rin. Someone mentioned you two were home for the festival. Who's someone... Haru wondered. Ah, that's right, Haru replied.

The boys went on complaining about learning for their exams and not being able to return to their homes this time. The exams were sickening stuff, no one needed.

Hey Kisumi, do you mean, we go again at that expansive, cool gym, where we met Rin and Souske last year? Asahi called out.  Haru looked at him, wondering about Rin and Souske at an expensive gym?! Naturally Haru wouldn't ask them. Both, Asahi and Kisumi spoke their minds, about meeting Rin and Souske on the street, when they had finished their workouts. It had been quite a worthy, cool, coincidence.

Ha! Do you remember what happened between Rin and Ikuya? Asahi called out, even lauder than before. Woah, that BEEF! Kisumi exclaimed! Haru's sandwich dropped. Makoto's mouth also dropped open. Asahi and Kisumi started producing needless noise and not a single word from them, BAKA, made sense. Makoto intervened. What are you talking about? How's Ikuya suddenly popped up?

Noooo, Nooo! He's been with us in the gym, Hiyori was also there. It's been already more than a year and a half. Both they laughed out loud, making themselves important with some special knowledge, which the others didn't have. Continuing to chat nonsense. It seemed Asahi wanted to entertain the whole coffee shop with a useless story.

What's funny? Haru was annoyed. They gazed at him stupidly.

Ha! You can't know! Rin and Ikuya had a Beef, - Over You! We were so stressed out! They went on with the most nonsensical story imaginable. Hiyori's car had crushed down the hill, as he had tried to push Rin's car, down that hill. At the end, Rin had won and had left, WARNING Ikuya to know his place. Souske hadn't done anything to Stop Rin. This beef has been too good. Rin has been so heated up and self-confident! They kept commenting Rin's toughness with some true admiration.

Haru looked at them stunned and annoyed. What cars, what hills? How can one push the other while driving? Did you lose your minds again, Baka, Haru said angrily? WTF! He stood up. Asahi's eyes popped up. Kisumi sensed Haru's mood. Makoto was frozen with astonishment, remaining silent.

I don't understand, he had pointed out. Kisumi stood up, straightening himself to explain silencing Asahi's stupid laughs. They really got on each other over you. We went to a video games hall that was just across the street and they drove some races. Rin told Ikuya to remain in his waters. Something like – You're certainly not appointed to swim with Haru, only because you're copying his free style. Rin silenced Ikuya, so tough! Hearing this, Haru went out, leaving all others behind him with open mouths. Makoto went after him. I'm not angry. I just don't wish them to notice. It's not easy right now to hide how... Haru had turned away. Makoto nodded and went back in, providing some diplomatic moves, bringing up some new thoughts. When Haru returned at the table, Kisumi proclaimed: this is long ago, see, they're all friends now.

Not Really, Asahi disagreed. Ikuya doesn't like Rin.

How do you know? Haru asked. He told this once. He's avoiding Rin, Kisumi answered. It's not that important, is it? Makoto said. They are good athletes, the best, so they know how to behave. We didn't even notice. They have been meeting at competitions and trainings with the national team, few times without stress... Natsuya was there too.

Haru, you train with Ikuya, aren't you? Bring him here next time? Asahi suggested. He didn't give any thoughts, he just kept speaking what was in his mind. Haru turned away. I don't want to. Ask him yourself when you want to meet him.

Asahi had another great idea he shared. Then bring Rin around again, he's so cool, he knows so much, and he's fun all the time. I can't stop laughing at his statements.

Let's not talk about people who aren't here right now, Makoto said in his usual Makoto calming (everyone be nice and behave) way. Haru replied at the same time... Ask him yourself. Besides. We'll be leaving to train with the national team, I'll be away some time. He stood up once again, aiming to leave. His thoughts were chaotic and he wanted to lay on his couch and FaceTime with Rin for the rest of the day. He would ask Rin about this occasion, eventually when they meet again. Maybe not at all.

Makoto joined him in a fast pace. Haru, do you like to swim? Haru shook his head. Not today. I'm tired and I want to... He stopped himself. Makoto gave him a nice look. Tomorrow? Haru nodded: Come to my place? Makoto nodded. Gladly! I'll come at the afternoon, if you don't mind, we can have dinner after swimming, I may even stay for a sleepover... we can watch a film and we both may not feel so lonely over the people we miss... Haru nodded. Makoto gave him a positive look: They didn't notice. Don't mind them. Just then his smartphone sounded. When he looked, his face started to glow, his fingers tipping very quickly. Afterwards he lifted his head to meet Haru's eyes. They both glanced at each other, clearly knowing what's going on. Sometimes they could read their minds very accurate. It feels so good! Makoto exclaimed. I want to take my time. Haru smiled, taking a deep breath, clearing his mind, letting the stagnant energy out. I miss Rin ... so much! His face looked towards the pink colored skies. Makoto tipped his shoulders. Soon you're back together, he smiled. They walked to the subway, parting, each of them on their own way. Leaning at the door of the subway train, Haru closed his eyes visualizing Rin's handsome face, longing to kiss him, to play with his hair, to inhale his scent. He felt the platinum necklace around his neck, laying on his chest, near to his heartbeat, desiring to be the closest to the one who had given it to him, the one who had first showed him the vision of ...
