Smile At Despair? Or Hope? Or. . .

Having just told Hinata his plan to kill the remaining Remnants of Despair, he wasn't sure how his lover was going to react. He was scared to even look at him and the silence that followed after his explanation seemed to last forever.

He buried his head in his hands, wondering for a moment if this was really the right thing to do, the only solution. No, they don't deserve to live after all that they've done, surely he'll understand. He's seen the files, he'll understand.

He felt a hand softly touched his cheek and he looked up into the gentle, understanding eyes of Hinata Hajime. ". . .It's a perfect plan," He told him, "Let me help you with it."

   Komaeda's eyes widened. "Wh-Really?!"

The brunet nodded. "It's a smart trap. Can you go over it one more time?"

Startled, Komaeda began to retell his plan.

"The overall goal is to find and spare the traitor; the only one who did nothing wrong. I will give them a chance to come forward but there's no way they will so here is what will be done: I'm going to blow up the hotel lobby and tell everyone and have hidden a bunch of so-called bombs. While everyone's searching for the made-up bombs that are really just fireworks, I'm going to be setting up my murder so that I get killed by the traitor and look like I've got tortured. I'll also film a message to lure everyone to the warehouse and then fire and fire grenades, you know." He explained.

Hinata smiled. "Since we can't say for certain who the traitor is, if it's necessary, I'll set myself up as the culprit at the Class Trial. We can't have a random vote because whoever we vote for may end up being the traitor."

Komaeda raises an eyebrow. "But what if somehow you're the traitor and they vote for you? Then I'd died for nothing. I would be killing you!" He contemplated worriedly.

"Komaeda, I promise you I'm not the traitor and think we all deserve to die as much as you do," Hinata promised, "Have I ever lied to you?"

". . .Never. I trust you with my life, Hinata."

"Of course you do. You're trusting me to help you end it, after all," Hinata glanced out the window, "It's late, everyone should be in bed. Now, we need to get everything ready by tomorrow because that's when they intend to capture you again and that's when we need to blow up the lobby."

Komaeda nodded. "I've got a fire grenade, a video camera, and the poison back at my cottage. Want to come?"

   "Obviously."

-

"You look hot, babe," Hinata said, aiming the video camera at his lover, "Now you've just got to address the traitor or whoever lives at the end."

Komaeda swallowed and looked back into the camera. "Um. . .I wonder who's watching this message? Is it the traitor from Future Foundation? If so, congratulations, looks like it ended the way we hoped it would. But," He frowned, "If everyone but the traitor is watching this video, then unfortunately I guess we lost. That outcome is the complete opposite of the hope I believe in. Well, not that it matters for me anymore."

   Hinata smiled, nodding encouragingly.

"I mean, no matter what the outcome is, it doesn't matter for a dropout like me. Now then, let's put this meaningless introduction aside and get down to business. Since I don't know who I'm talking to, I'm going to speak so that both sides understand. First of all, you might be wondering why. . .I did what I did. Well. . .I just took action after talking about it for so long. The special prize in the Final Dead Room allowed me to learn a certain truth. It would be troublesome if everyone found out, so I already disposed of that page. But anyway, I was totally surprised. I mean, the Future Foundation's traitor must have known that truth all along. And so, I was able to learn the truth about this world and resolved to take action immediately."
