It was a nice place, new community, new everything. Moving from the mainland to the small island was definitely new, mother thought that moving after the divorce would be better for the both of us. So here we are, in a old run down house that's honestly some what not that bad.
"Honey go grab the last box from the truck" I rolled my eyes as my mom passed me with a few of her own things in her hands. As I was outside I had seen a van with its door open and a couple teens inside, they were all yelling and by the looks it seemed a security guard was chasing them. One boy hung out of the side and threw a beer can at the guard, he looked out and we met eyes. He winked then got pulled into the van by some girl, assuming it's his girlfriend.
It's been three days and fully unpacked and tearing down boxes was now the new job. I was in the kitchen warming up some left overs when my mom came running down the stairs. She wore a black dress with a gold necklace with basic dot earrings. She spun around raising her eyebrows, "how do I look?"
"Now here's the thing do you want my answer or the answer you want to hear?" She only rolled her eyes at me and grabbed her purse.
"I'll hopefully be bad before 12" she waved me goodbye and left. Yeah I guess having a mom who got over the divorce pretty quickly and is already dating not bad, but it's bad for me when she comes home with random men every night.
After I ate I decided to go for a walk, walking all ways seemed to help with that. As I walked around the island I heard loud noises, as if there were a party. I wondered around further toward the sound and found a small beach that was hidden in a way, there in front were many teens. Drinking and smoking, lounging around a fire in the middle.
I didn't want to seem like a creep so I walked out from the side. My feet sunk below the sand, quickly I bent down untying my laces. Just as I stood up I bumped into a arm, causing a liquid to drop all over me "whoa whoa- wait a second" I looked up and saw the same blonde from a couple of days ago. "I've seen you before"
I rolled my eyes ''oh don't worry I'm fine'' he caught on to what I meant, he quickly scrambled and grabbed a towel from his backpack.
''Here sorry, usually this isn't how I get girls wet but hey something different right'' he started to laugh at his own joke which was kind of funny, but seeing how I don't know this dude the only action I took was rolling my eyes. He shortly realized that I wasn't laughing and stopped himself, we awkwardly just stood there as I dried myself, just as he was about to talk a girl with long dark hair came walking up.
''Jj leave this girl alone god knows you hit on a bunch of girls tonight'' she stopped right next to him padding his shoulder letting him know it's time to leave. ''Hey I don't think I've seen you around before, are you new or just visiting?'' I looked between the two and shook my head.
"Yeah I'm new I just moved in down the road" the blonde boy smirked and nodded.
"So your a kook huh?'' the dark hair girl smacked him aside the head making him cry out.
"I'm sorry a what" my eyebrows went to a straight line they lost me in what they were talking about.
"Jj just stop talking before you scare her off'' she pushed him away and linked arms with me and pulled me away to talk. "my name is Kiara but you can call me Kie" she smiled and rubbed my arm as a comforting way.
Some how I felt comfortable around her I don't know what it was, "y/n my name's y/n" we stopped in front of a kegger and grabbed a couple cups from a boy with dirty blonde hair.
"Well y/n welcome to outer bank" she handed me a cup and winked at the boy who handed her the cups.
Shortly after a couple of hours she had introduced me to her friends who they call themselves the pogues, I first met John b he was sweet and explained everything there is about the town. I then met Pope, he was awkward at first but warmed up to me. He told me about the kooks and who to look out for and to steer clear of the kook prince, he ended up pointing out who it was but I didn't pay attention much seeing as I was staring at Jj. At the last second he turned his head and we had made eye contact, he said his goodbyes to whoever he was talking to and made his way towards Pope and I.
Pope shortly caught on and left once Jj reached us "so am I going to be seeing you around more?'' he leaned on the log next to me and took a drink out of his cup. I looked around seeming like I was thinking about my answer.
"Maybe, maybe not'' I took one last drink from my cup and set it down, I turned towards Kie and smiled giving her a wave goodbye. Once Jj realized that I was leaving he shot up from his spot and followed me till we got to the sidewalk.
"When can I see you again?'' he was a couple feet behind me as he asked the question. I turned around and held out my hand.
"Give me your phone'' quickly his hand dug through his pocket and he pulled it out, he handed it to me and gracefully I took it and punched my number in. "There now you can call or text me whenever you wanna hangout" I gave him his phone back and smiled, he returned the smile and slowly started to walk backwards back to the beach.
Just as I was a bit further down the road my phone rang, it was an unknown number but I still picked it up. "Hello?''
"Hey I wanna hangout" I knew that on the other line was Jj I turned around and saw him standing at the end of the road with his phone to his ear.
"How about tomorrow?" I could hear a faint laugh and could tell he was smiling.
"That would be great, meet me at the wreak at noon" i replied with a yes and we both said our goodbyes.
I couldn't help but smile on my way back home already exited about hanging out.
Jj walked back onto the beach and met back up with his friends, they couldn't help but laugh. "wow never in my life did i think i would see Jj Maybank whipped" John b only started to laugh and the others shortly joined in.
"Hey man leave it alone okay she's actually really nice" Jj pushed john b in a friendly way which only led to John b and the others jaw to drop.
"Wow she really got you didn't she" kie hit the side of Jj's arm and only smiled being happy that the boy had finally found someone. Jj only nodded and carried on with the night already wanting it to be the next afternoon.
