The curse of the Hope Diamond

"Luca and I, we go way back. Back in the days, before I took over my father's empire, I was in Italy, in Rome. The police swarm into Luca's club and soon everything turned into a bloodbath. I saved his life back then and he's done the same once."- Serkan explained as he looked at the intel that Engin had gathered on Luca.

"That's why you trust him, right?"- Eda said as she took the file in her hands. "Prostitution, drugs, guns, anything else this guy doesn't do?"

Engin had managed to find some relation with the Italian mob that sold Defne out to the Russians and Luca.

"Abi, you need to seriously have a conversation with Luca. The person who sold Defne out to the Russians, Giovanni, is Luca's father. Now what's interesting is what he got in return of Defne."- Engin said as he started to shuffle the files.

"What is it, Engin?"- Serkan asked.

"The Hope Diamond, one of the most famous jewels in the world, with ownership records dating back almost four centuries. It's much-admired due to its rare blue color. It was purchased in 1949 by a gem merchant, who toured it for a number of years before giving it to the National Museum of Natural History of the United States in 1958, where it was supposed to remain on permanent exhibition. That was of course till the Russians stole it."- Engin said as he handed them a photo of the Hope Diamond.

"It's beautiful"- Eda said. "So Egor gave it to Giovanni in return for Defne?"

"Yes, and he gave it as a gift to his wife, Isabella. She was seen a couple of times wearing it before its curse caught up with both of them."- Engin said.

"What curse?"- Serkan asked. This whole thing was starting to get way too confusing.

"A curse that foretold bad luck and death not only for the owner of the diamond but for all who touched it."- Engin said as he showed them the research on the Hope Diamond.

"Come on, you can't believe this bullshit"- Serkan said as he put the files on the table.

"But what side does Luca take in this and where is the Hope Diamond now?"- Eda asked.

"He wants revenge, I mean he has the motive."- Engin said and then paused for a second. "Luca is on our side."

"We don't know that for sure."- Piril said and Eda supported her opinion.

"We should be careful, Serkan. I know you trust him given your history, but you know how mad people of this world can be. I mean take Egor and his sick obsession with my mother for example. People can have a change of heart in a second, so we must take extra precautions if we're to trust him"- Eda said as she placed a hand on his shoulder.

"I'll have to talk to him. I knew there was bad blood between the Italians and Russians, but Luca never bothered to explain why. I need to find out his intentions"- Serkan said as he took his phone to call him.

Things were starting to get way too complicated for everyone. In the meantime, Defne and Anton had been laying low in Russia.

"That was a minor setback. We're not done with them, I want to see Serkan lose everything just like I did."- Anton said as he sipped his drink.

"I agree. They will all pay for what they did to Egor, just like Alptekin, Mustafa and Emine did. But there are better ways to torture someone than kill them. You of all people should know that"- Defne said as she patted his shoulder.

"I know. I won't rest until he's left with nothing, no love, no empire, no money, nothing."- Anton said to her.

They both were driven by revenge so much, that it had consumed them. At least, Anton might have had motive, but Defne didn't. Serkan was not to blame for what happened to her and sure as hell Eda wasn't too. If only she knew that...
