Proposal

I fumbled around nervously with the pocket of my hoodie. Inside it was a small black box, a sparkling gemstone ring in it. I was so nervous to propose to Annabeth. If she said no...no, she won't that. She'll obviously say yes. We've been through so much together, that the thought of her saying no was making me sweat. And apparently Annabeth noticed.

"You okay, Seaweed Brain?" She said, coming into the living room of our apartment. she had gray sweats on and a light blue tank top. Her hair was in a messy ponytail, the strands coming onto her face, but she didn't care. Annabeth plopped down next to me on the sofa.

"I-I'm fine," I said.

She raised her eyebrows but didn't say anything. Instead she switched on the tv and put on the show that we were currently in the middle of.

"When's the pizza coming?" she complained.

I chuckled. Annabeth loved pizza so much, I was starting to get jealous. "It says 5 more minutes Wise Girl, be patient."

She looked over at me and frowned. "Are you sure you're okay?"

"Uh, yeah, d-definitely," I said. "I'm fine, I promise."

"Okay then, if you say so," she said. Just then the doorbell rang, signaling that the pizza has arrived. We both jumped up out of our seats and ran to the door. After quickly paying the scrawny dude who delivered our pizza, we sprinted back inside and opened the heavenly box of pizza.

"Oh man, this is amazing," I said with my mouth full.

Annabeth grunted and nodded in agreement as we chowed down our meal. At last the box was empty. I started to get nervous again. I had to propose now. I would've propose in a nice fancy restaurant, over a candle lit dinner, but last week Annabeth confessed to me that, as much as she liked going out to eat, she preferred being at home in comfortable clothes with me, our show, and pizza.  She said it felt more personal and romantic in her opinion. Which is why I chose this laid back, regular night to ask the big question.

I took a deep breath. "Annabeth..." I started. I took her hands in mine and pulled her up from the couch so that we were both standing.

"Yes, Seaweed Brain?" Annabeth asked. She looked so beautiful in the cozy glow of our light, even though her hair was a mess and her clothes were very casual.

I pulled out the box from the pocket of my hoodie and knelt down on one knee. Annabeth gasped.

"Wise Girl, you are the person who always has my back, who will always take care of me and who I want to spend the rest of my life with. So, Annabeth Chase, will you marry me?" I said.

"Oh my gods, yes. Yes!" she sobbed. She got down on her knees so that she was face to face with me and kissed me. We pulled apart and I slid the ring onto her finger. It fit perfectly. I smiled.

Annabeth Jackson. Had a nice ring to it.
