Chapter 3
Dean POV
I check on Mom before unlocking Sam from his restraints. The three of us turn when we hear a voice from the stairs, "Well played. My names Mick."
Cas and Brooke are standing behind him on the stairs. I notice Brooke has her arms crossed and is looking at the ground. She only glances at me before looking away again, making me look confused and worried.
Mary, Sam, and I stand, listening to Mick as he talks while Cas stands by him and Brooke is standing by a pillar, looking off.
"What you were told is basically true. We were keen on knowing about the two of you, seeing as you seem to be partially carrying on the Men of Letters' work here now that the American chapter is defunct."
Toni, the women who had taken Sam and started all this crap, stood up from getting thrown on the ground previously.
"So you sic your attack dog on us to what, say hi?" I asked, angrily, as I gestured to Toni.
Mick shrugged, "Well, part of our group suspect some kind of malfeasance amongst you American Hunters. No argument, Lady Bevell went too far. I deeply apologize."
Sam and I scuff at his words.
"She'll face consequences in London."
I took a step towards Mick, "I'll tell you what, why don't you take a walk, and she can face those consequences right here and now?"
Mick shakes his head at me, "She's ours. We'll take care of her. Now, I'm here to extend an olive branch. We want to work with you."
Sam joined me, taking a step forward as well, "Let me ask you a question, uh, Mick is it? Why would we believe any of this?"
"Lads... if I wasn't sincere, if I meant you harm, there's a dozen ways I could've come in here and taken you all prisoner instead of being unarmed. Not to mention I saved your girl..." He pointed to Brooke, making me look at her. She is still looking at the ground, her hands shaking slightly which worries me. I want to walk over to her, ask her what's wrong but Mick continues to talk.
"And I powered down all the warding's in this shack so your attack dog could come in." He reaches in his pocket, pulling out a card and handing it to Cas, "My number. Take your time, cool down, and just think it over. And what have you got to lose, except your worst nightmares?"
Mick leaves up the steps, finally letting me walk over to Brooke and check on her. I can tell something has happened by the way she can barely look at me. "Hey, you good baby?"
"Fine," She mutters and walks away, following everyone up the stairs. My eyes watch her as she walks up the stairs worriedly. The expression doesn't change as I glance over at her in the passenger seat and even when we get out and head into the Bunker.
As we enter the Bunker, home, I let out a huff, "Well, that was a wild one."
I notice Brooke walk passed everyone and exit the room, disappearing into the hallway. My feet immediately follow, wanting to know what was going on, but Cas steps in front of me and stops me. Mom and Sam are talking at the table, unaware of the conversation I'm having with Cas.
"Dean. Maybe you should give her some space."
"Why, what happened?"
Cas pauses, sighing, "I'm not sure if I'm supposed to say any-"
I cut him off, anger in my voice, "Cas, that's my wife, you gotta tell me something."
Cas hesitates, making me even more worried. Finally he speaks, but part of me wishes he hadn't. "When Mick undid the warding's and let me in, we found Brooke in the kitchen. There was a man, a new guy apparently. He was..."
