His hands were beautiful.
Slender fingers with light tattoos adorning the knuckles, a silver band on the index finger and a dark beaded chain wrapped around the delicate wrist.
She noticed how different his hand looked in her own, the pale skin standing out prominently over her rosy palms. But then she realized she had been very silent, lost in observing his hands so she looked back at him to see him observing her with the same curiosity she had been studying his hands with.
He quickly retrieved his gaze and asked, "how was the concert?"
Her thumb glided over the side of his palm, sending a spark down his spine as she replied, "the concert was great but backstage was terrifying."
"Wait, why?"
She looked at him incredulously as if he was not being serious, "have you looked at yourself lately? When I saw you back then, I thought..."
Her voice trailed off and he tugged her hand closer, a smile playing upon his lips, "I'm fine, Mikayla."
"Oh really?" She raised an eyebrow at him skeptically.
"How did you come backstage?" He tried to change the topic instead but her lips pursed into a slight frown as she had noticed his attempt.
"I had gotten separated from my sister in the crowd and was searching for her when I turned up here. J-Hope brought me in."
He noticed she hadn't dropped her stare and felt his cheeks tingle. "Mikayla..."
Though when he looked in her hazel irises, he recalled that back when he had seen her before he was brought to the med van, those irises were welled up in tears. Almost as if it had hurt her to see him like that.
He couldn't understand why it would hurt her though since he had met her just a day before but perhaps she felt concerned for him as he had helped her out and they had somewhat become friends.
He tried to sit up but seemed to have forgotten how close she was, such that when he straightened, his head collided with hers.
"Sorry," he mumbled, losing his breath upon seeing her face so close to his own, a bright red shading her cheeks.
"Don't you dare hurt yourself again like this. You scared me so bad, you have no idea," she breathed and would have pulled apart but he was holding her hand in his own.
"I'm sorry," he whispered again but his eyes were piercing through hazel intensely.
She wanted to speak up but found her voice stuck in her throat, eyes not daring to leave the sight in front of her. His lips looked soft and pink as he edged closer, breaths turning jagged again and his brown eyes were focused intently on her.
Jungkook was the most innocent looking creature she had ever laid eyes on. Such that when his lips brushed against hers lightly, almost as if to test the waters, she didn't question his intentions but let her hazel eyes fall shut instead, feeling that she could trust him.
His lips were extremely soft, she realized as he kissed her sweetly, almost making her think that she was dreaming. Jungkook's eyes had fallen shut as well and he pulled her even closer, deepening the moment.
His free hand reached up to caress her cheek while her left hand had glided up his chest, feeling the racing heartbeat under the very tips of her fingers as she kissed him back. When her fingers trailed up from his shoulders to his neck, she felt a shiver pass through him and his mouth fastened upon hers once again needily.
"We leave you lovesick people alone for just 5 minutes and this is what we come back to? Shameful indeed."
They pulled apart immediately, rather out of breath and flustered to see Taehyung and Andrea standing at the door of the med van. Tae seemed frozen in shock while Andrea was looking at her sister with wide unbelieving eyes as well.
Jungkook felt his cheeks tingle much harder than ever before, knowing he would be blushing as red as the girl whose hand he hadn't yet let go of. Realizing that, he loosened his grip and watched her stand up, quite visibly flustered.
"Andy, I have got to talk to you. Excuse us please," Mikayla had taken her sister's arm and led her out, though Andy had recovered from the shock and was pouring question after at her.
"It's not like that Taehyungie, you're making a huge deal out of nothing," V let out the breath he was holding, imitating what Jungkook had told him earlier that morning at breakfast.
But his tone wasn't playful like usual, instead he spoke with a strain to his voice and his soft brown eyes were flickering with an unfathomable expression.
"Tae..."
He shrugged him off, "save it Kook, tell your lies to someone who's stupid enough not to see through you."
Jungkook felt a wave of alarm course through his veins. Taehyung looked upset and he didn't want to see him like that.
Mostly, he didn't want to see Tae ever get upset due to him.
"Don't leave. I just... She... V, listen to me," he had stood upon his feet but stumbled in his haste to reach his best friend.
A resigned sigh escaped him as Taehyung stepped forward and steadied him, brown eyes softening, "it's alright. I guess I'm the one who's overreacting."
His eyes locked with his entreatingly, "no, you're my best friend. You deserve to know."
"Know what?"
He looked down, guilt crossing his face as he bit his lip, still able to feel her taste upon it. "I think... In fact I'm scared that... That she is far too irresistible for me to step back."
Tae looked at him closely, a small frown tugging up on his face, "you know very well what happened to..."
But he didn't let him complete the sentence, "I know! I know and it hurts... I don't want it to repeat."
Tae chose to deviate the topic because if he didn't, Jungkook would end up in a mess again and he knew the boy was too exhausted to put up with that too. "What happened to the boy who never dared to even talk to girls? You met her yesterday and just one day later, you're thinking that you might have feelings for her? I'm sorry but that's preposterous."
He was about to say something in his defense but the door to the med van opened and Andrea looked in, "guys, we're leaving. It was epic finally meeting you all in person, all thanks to my sister's encounter with Jungkook yesterday."
Jungkook watched that the shocked and slightly hurt look from Tae's face had faded as he replied to her with a gentle smile, "it was a pleasure meeting you too. And don't go just yet, we're both coming outside."
"You sure he's okay enough to do that?" She looked over at Jungkook who was refusing to meet her scrutinizing gaze.
"Yeah, he's fine," Tae had draped an arm round his shoulders as the two stepped out behind Andrea.
He spotted Mikayla talking to Suga which was quite a surprise since before then he had felt she had been intimidated by Yoongi. His eyes flickered back to Tae as if to ask what changed.
"You won't believe what she said to us when you had passed out," Tae whispered.
"What did she say?" Jungkook asked him intrigued.
"I'll tell you later, though ever since then Suga hyung is being extremely considerate towards her."
Seeing them approach, she nodded a farewell to Yoongi who smiled faintly. The rest of them were there too, with RM and J-Hope thanking the girls for coming to their concert.
"You're thanking us, oh no no no. We should thank you for doing such a lot for us," Andrea exclaimed, her bright smile lighting up her features as she hugged all of them, minus Suga as the man had given her a tight lipped smile but steered clear of her. "Especially you, Jungkook, you gave your very best though you shouldn't overly exhaust yourself. What would we ever do if something happened to you? A thousands girls would die in sorrow, so make sure to take extra care of yourself."
He nodded in reply with a small smile, trying to catch Mikayla's gaze but the girl was practically hiding behind Andrea, her cheeks still a prominent red.
"Bye," Mikayla waved to the others and finally her eyes locked with Jungkook, the crimson hue on her cheeks deepening, "take care."
