POV SHIFT
I watched from a safe distance as the kids walked out of the library carrying the two boxes they had been filling in the crypt. They looked so small and frail from where I stood. Children were so naive.
Jordan headed the group, talking animatedly about something or another. I couldn't hear them from where I was. Small, quiet Ophelia was following carrying a manilla envelope. Cecily held on to Tyler's arm like her life depended on it while he carried one of the boxes.
I'd nearly gotten caught, I made a mistake when I reached for her. I knew that, I should have known better.
Angel, carrying the other box, smiled and chatted back with Jordan. She was already starting to become meddlesome. Brand new to the school and she was already a threat. She couldn't help herself and I couldn't stop her. Not yet.
I knew her meddling would be her downfall.
