Ariyana was released from the hospital the following Saturday. The following Sunday, a small memorial service was held at the front entrance gates of SFIT, which had been closed until the semester was due to begin during the following weeks. Callaghan and Tadashi's framed photos stood side-by-side on the concrete stairs. Tadashi had three photos, all in one multi-photo frame. Ariyana's idea was to have one of himself taken during spring student pictures, one of him with his family, and one of him with Honey Lemon, Go Go, Wasabi, and Fred. Ariyana had taken the photo of the group outside the café that summer. Extended family and various friends left candles and flowers on the altar for them in respect and remembrance.

Hiro stood at the makeshift altar with Aunt Cass and the others. He was very quiet, not saying much of anything to anyone. He looked over his shoulder, spotting Ariyana away from everyone else, sitting on the stairs, alone. She didn't need everyone else's pity and "I'm sorry"s. They weren't going to bring Tadashi back. Nothing was.

After the memorial, the large group made its way to the cemetery. The grass at the grave was untouched aside from the gravestone grass marker plaque, as there was nothing to bury without a body. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and rain began to fall. The group raised their umbrellas to shield themselves, gathering around the granite plaque with Tadashi's name and details engraved.

Tadashi Isaac Hamada
7.31.2012 to 8.5.2032 - Age 20
Beloved son, brother, nephew, grandson, friend, father figure
"Someone has to help."

Ariyana and Hiro had asked to add Tadashi's last words as his gravestone quote. Ariyana had although silently, insisted on including the father figure part. Tadashi raised her for years, ever since she was a child, after the deaths of their parents. His sacrifice and unconditional love deserved recognition and to be honored.

The café was closed for the day, and many close friends and family members had gathered at the house in remembrance. Cass was downstairs with Wasabi, Go Go, Honey Lemon, and Fred. Everyone was there. All but Hiro and Ariyana.
