December, 1968
Narcissa was fourteen when she met him. Lucius Malfoy. The boy, the man who would change her life forever. Narcissa had always loved romance. The good kind of romance. But the girl had been innocent. Because Narcissa believed that love was easy. Narcissa believed that love happened fast, that two people were meant for each other. And when they were, everything would come in easily. That she would live a romance like in the numerous books she had read.
Narcissa couldn't be more wrong because love, the real love, the one she had with Lucius at least, was far more different than she had expected. She didn't know the trouble that Lucius was going to cause in her life, but it wouldn't matter because she would love him that much.
The Black Family prepared a party for New Year's Eve. Narcissa loved parties because they were the perfect opportunity to socialize, to show off. And Druella, the sisters' mother, took this opportunity to transform her daughters into little princesses, the perfect ladies for society. Cissy knew her job was to find them good husbands. And all that Cissy wanted was to find her prince charming. A boy that she fell in love with and at the same time, someone that her mommy and daddy would approve.
The Black Sisters were giggling in Bella's room as they got ready. As always, Bellatrix was the prettiest of all of them. Narcissa knew that this was because her body was developed. Bella was a woman now. Narcissa tried not to be jealous. Mommy constantly told her that she would grow up to be a beautiful girl, just like her.
"Oh, bloody hippogriff" Andy sighed adjusting her dress, which seemed to be too tight for her taste "These parties are so boring"
"Many wizards, our age, are invited" Narcissa smiled "Mommy told me so"
"So?" Andy shrugged
"It won't be boring" Narcissa blushed. She didn't tell her sisters that she had a good feeling about tonight, that she was somehow nervous.
"I'm gonna run away" Bella whispered to her reflection.
She had been having a 'special conference' with their father all day. Narcissa knew her sister really well and she knew that their father had said something that upset her. Bellatrix had been in a bad mood since.
Narcissa and Andromeda exchanged panicked looks.
"What are you talking about Bella?" Andy tried carefully
Bellatrix sighed turning to look at them. She smiled.
"Can we promise each other something?" she said "Let's go to Paris together this summer..." she stood up "The Last Great Summer, you know? Imagine the three of us, finding adventures..."
Andromeda's face lit up.
".... Falling in love several times..." Bella continued
Now Cissy was the one to get excited.
"... But the important thing is that we will be together..." Bella added "We can even get a flat together...If we wish, we can do whatever we want..."
Bella's eyes were shinny with excitement. She grabbed Andy's hands and the both squealed in happiness.
"But what about mommy and daddy?" Cissy interrupted "What about Rodolphus?"
"Cissy!" Andy protested
Bellatrix's smile disappeared. She turned to look at Narcissa with such a penetrating gaze that Cissy had to take a step back.
"Maybe they don't mind..."
"What?"
Before Bellatrix could continue, they heard a scream.
