The Family Meeting

Zhao Yunlan had always considered himself as the mighty cop in town. He had earned reputations for the way he ruthlessly interrogates the criminals. His colleagues would try to avoid him and the criminals would escape from him. Basically everyone were afraid of him.

It was supposed to be a fine day as the cool breeze blew from the open window behind Yunlan. But somehow sweats were starting to form on his palms and forehead, as he could feel it rolling down from the side of his face. He didn't even realize that he was fidgeting on his chair and his breathing became uneasy. Only until today, that he found out he was able to stutter like a criminal being interrogated.

Zhao Yunlan was sitting face to face with a man, none other than Shen Wei's father. He was being asked so many questions as if he was in the interrogation room. He gulped down his saliva as his voice hitched.

"You're asking for permission to date my Wei?"

"Ye..es..sir!" *gulped*

"Do you know he's the apple of my eyes?"

"Ye..es..sir..I'm aware of that!" *gulped*

"So your father is the Chief of Police?"

"Ye..es..sir!" *gulped*

"Do you have any criminal record?"

"Ye..es...I mean no sir! I'm a cop!"

"Oh right! Well you never know..Ahem.." Mr. Shen squinted his eyes as he adjusted his eyeglasses to read the question notes he told Yezun to write out for him. "Why did he even write this question down?" Mr. Shen mumbled to himself as he continued with his questioning.

"How serious are you with this relationship?"

"I'm very serious sir!" Yunlan replied without hesitation.

"How far do you see yourself and Wei with this relation?"

"Forever..sir..forever!" Yunlan immediately replied with conviction and seriousness that Mr. Shen could see in his eyes. He was impressed by Yunlan's bold declaration for his son!

"Okay then, call your Father to come for dinner tonight. I want to meet him!" Mr.Shen requested.

Shen Wei hastily walking back and forth as he waits for Yunlan and his dad to come out from the room.

"Gege, can you stop walking back and forth? You're giving me a headache, I can't concentrate." Yezun lets out a sigh while reading something on his phone.

"You know how dad is, I don't want him to scare away my boyfriend!" Shen Wei stressed, still walking back and forth impatiently.

"Wei! Sit down baby! Your dad won't bite him!" His mom assured, while preparing the meat and vegetables for tonight's dinner in the kitchen.

At that moment, Mr. Shen came down the stairs. "Why would I bite! I'm not a dog!" He exclaimed.

"DAD!!!!" Shen Wei squealed, running to his dad and looking behind him. "Where's Ah Lan?" Wei asked in worries, sticking his head out like a giraffe to look up the stairs.

"He excused himself to use the bathroom. But he's been inside for a while now." His dad replied and walked over to his wife.

Yunlan was also pacing back and forth in the bathroom, hesitating and in a dilemma whether to call his dad or not. He felt like a teenage boy all over again asking his dad for help in dating. Most of all, he hated going to his dad for help, but this time he had to let go of his ego just for Shen Wei.

He took a long sigh and dialed his dad's number.

ring...ring..ring...

"Hello! Yunlan, what is it..?" His dad answered.

"Dad! I....I need your help!" Yunlan requested.

His dad was surprised by Yunlan sudden request for help and then laughed to have learned about his son's request was just for his little lover. But for his only son happiness, he agreed.

"Okay! Tell me the address I will be there."

Shen Wei stood infront of the bathroom door, wondering if he should knock in or not. He was dead worried that Yunlan might change his mind about their relationship. His dad had done this before and scared most of his friends away. But Yunlan is more than just a friend or a boyfriend. Yunlan is his light of life and love!

Just as Shen Wei was about to knock, Yunlan opened the door.

"Ah Lan! Are you okay! Don't leave me!" Shen Wei cried out before Yunlan could even say a word.

Yunlan suddenly pulled Shen Wei inside the bathroom and gave him a hug. "Why would you even think I would leave you? We came this far!" Yunlan started soothing his back. "But I got to admit, your dad is scarier than a ghost!" Yunlan chuckled.

"He always does that and scared many of my friends away!" Shen Wei revealed.

"Which friends?" Yunlan arched his brow knowing that it was probably all the secret admirers Yezun told him about.

Shen Wei noticed his mistake and tried to escape, but Yunlan quickly locked him against the wall. Shen Wei blushed from the closeness, so he closed his eyes and was expecting a kiss as he perched his lips. Yunlan chuckled inwardly and flicked Shen Wei's forehead instead.

"Ouch!!"

"We should go downstairs now before your dad comes and kill me for good!" With that being said, Yunlan left the shocked Shen Wei.

Yunlan came down the stairs, followed by the pouting Shen Wei behind him.

"Yunlan my dear, come sit down first! Dinner will be ready soon!" Mrs. Shen called him. "Is your father coming?" She asked.

"Yes, he will be here soon!" Yunlan replied while sitting politely on the chair across from Mr. Shen.

Mr. Shen was lifting up his tea to drink but saw Shen Wei's unhappy face and thought Yunlan had done something to his son. "Wei, what happened? Did he do something to you?" His dad asked glaring at Yunlan while sipping his tea.

Shen Wei nodded. "I got rejected dad, he wouldn't kiss me!"

Mr. Shen suddenly choked and spat out his tea in Yunlan's face who were innocently sitting across from him. While Yezun just burst out laughing witnessing all the drama.

"Dad!!" Shen Wei went to help wipe Yunlan's face with a tissue.

Before Mr. Shen could reprimand his son, the door bell rang.

"Oh it must be my dad, let me get the door instead." Yunlan offered and got up to open the door.

"Mr. Shen! Please meet my father Zhao XinCi." Yunlan introduced.

Mr. Shen stood up from his chair and adjusted his tie and shirt as he turned to greet Yunlan's father.

Mr. Shen and Zhao Xin Ci were shocked seeing one another.

"YOU!!" Both pointed fingers at each other with beams coming from their eyes which tells alot of history between them.

"You two know each other?" Yunlan asked after noticing their intense gaze.

"I won't approve!" Mr. Shen snarled without answering Yunlan.

"DAD!!" Shen Wei protested.

"Oh this is going to be fun!" Yezun thought inwardly.

While Yunlan just stood there stunned.
