The group of friends were standing at the front doors of the school waiting for Will's mom to dropp him off

Suddenly a blue car sped by where they were standing and a girl came out of the passenger's seat

She got out, slammed the door and started skteboarding towards the school

The group looked at her and quickly looked way not really caring but Shay kept looking at the ginger girl

She looked relly cool when she was skateboarding, Shay had always wnted to skateboard but she was lucky her parents even let her have a bike at all

She kept watching the girl as she skated by her, the girl looked at Shay and smiled, and kept going into the school

"You guys wait for Will i need to go to the washroom" Shay said gathering her bag and swinging it over her shoulder

"Cool" Mike said before turning back to Dustin and Lucas to talk about some arcade game

She speed walked through the double doors to the middle school and looked around

She was looking for the girl she had seen skateboarding

She assumed the girl was new and Shay wanted to talk to the girl because she was interested in her, but not like interested like that.. she just wanted to be her friend

Shay looked toward her locker and saw the ginger girl standing at the locker next to hers

Shay took deep breath and went over to the girl

"Hi" Shay said standing next to the girl

"Hi?" the girl responded looking confused

"Are you new here" Shay asked, for some reason she was nervous but she didnt know why

"Yeah" She said still looking through her locker not making eye contact with Shay

"My name is Shay" Shay said somewhat upset the girl wasnt looking at her

"Im Max" The girl said slightly more annoyed then before

"Where are you from" Shay asked

"Californa" Max responded

"Do you like hawkins so far?"

"No"

"Are you exited for your fist day?"

"No"

"Do you have any friends"

"No"

"If you ever need someone to hang out with you can hang out with me and my friends" Shay offered smiling

Max slammed the door to her locker and looked Shay right in the eye

"Thanks for the offer but i dont really do friends" she said before walking away leaving Shay to just stand there

Shay walked to her class with her head low upset about the max girl

Shay had always wanted a friend that was a girl but no one wanted to be her friend other than Eleven

But for some reason when Max said no it stung a bit more than all the others

She arrived in her class room with everyone looking at her because she was late

"Where the hell were you we though you drowned in the toilet" Dustin spoke loudly making the whole class laugh

Shay rolled her eyes and went to sit down behind Mike

Right as she sat down all the attention turned to another dissruption at the door

"Ah, this must be our new student" Mr. Clarke said as a girl walked into the classroom
