shay slowly walked to the spot where she was supposed to meet max

her eyes wet with tears from when she sobbed on the floor of steves room because she didnt want to emmbarass herself

her knees and elbows were all scratched up from her trying to learn now to skateboard, she tried to cover it but she was wearing ripped jeans

she walked to the end of old cherry lane and sat on her skateboard waiting for max to come up the street

she looked to her right to see and happy girl skateboarding down the street

"hey" max said when she arrived at shay

"hi" shay smiled back picking up her skateboard

max got on hers and started skateboarding while shay pciked her up and started walking with it

"you dont know how to skateboard do you" max turned around abruptivly

"what do you mean?" shay asked trying to sound clueless

"the new skateboard, the scarped knees, what were you trying to do? impress me?" max said looking throught the holes in her jeans

"i can kinda skateboard" shay said red faced and emmbarassed

"show me then" max challenged

"okay fine i cant, happy?" shay said upset
sitting down in the middle of the road

"happy you finally told me the truth, yeah. why did you tell me? you should have expected me to find out" max told her taking a seat right beside her

"i was hoping my brother could teach me after school but it turns out hes a horrible teacher" shay metioned putting her face in her hands

"i can teach you, im not certified or anyhting but im sure im better than your brother" max suggested

"really" shay asked her excitedly

"yeah, here stand up" max told her offering her hand for shay to grab

shay grabbed her skatebard than max's hand, once max pulled her up shay expected her to let go of her hand, but max didnt

she kept holding shays hand as she dragged her to a smooth spot on the bumpy road

"okay stand on the skateboard and then grab both my hands" max said putting her hands out for shay to grab

she grabbed max's hands, they were soft and cold from the cool air on the autumn day, yet they made shay feel warm

"okay now just stand still" max told her starting to walk backwards making the skateboard move forwards

shay just watched max laugh as she kept walking backwards trying not to run into the curb

shay was to busy looking at max to notice the curb coming up that max didnt seem to notice

a second later max stepped backwards and hit the curb with her ankle, this made her fall backwards onto the grass and caused shay to fall on top of her

the minute they realized what happen they started hystaricly laughing, no akwardness at all

shay rolled off of max onto her back, they both laid on the grass togehter trying to catch their breath

once they were finihsed laughing and they stood up they went back to trying to teach shay how to skateboard

soon once shay had kinda got it thay sat on the curb together, picking grass and putting it into a pile

"so your 1000 percent sure your friends wont mind me coming trick or treating with you tonight?" max asked her
