I spent the rest of the day in awe about what had happened that morning. I thought about the way Luke had smiled at me as he stepped closer to me. Why didn't he let go of my hand right away? Why was he blushing so much when he talked to me? Why was my heart beating so fast?

After I had gotten the books I needed from my locker I started to walk to my car. I was just about to walk out the doors of the school when someone started called my name. I looked around and saw Luke staring at me, smiling and waving. I waved back at him, laughing to myself and turned back to leave.

"Harley, wait!" Luke said, putting a hand on my shoulder. "I was wondering if you wanted to hang out?"

"Oh, um, sure." I said, surprised by his invitation.

"Great!" He said, a smile spreading across his face, flashing his perfect teeth. It made my heart skip a beat. "What do you wanna do?"

"Um, whatever you want to, I guess." I said, laughing nervously.

"Perfect! Lets walk around at the mall." He said, grabbing my hand and walking out of the school.

He dragged me to is car as he hummed a random song. I was not sure what was happening or what I was supposed to do. Why the hell was he doing this? As He dragged me, I thought that maybe this was some kind of prank. Why else would he be holding my hand or taking me to the mall. There's no way in hell he actually wanted to hang out with me. Thinking about it made me feel embarrassed and angry so by the time we got to his car I was ready to say something.

"Wait." I said, pulling my hand away from him. "Is this some kind of joke? Why would you want to hang out with me?" I said. He looked surprised at my sudden outburst, maybe even a little offended.

"Of course it's not a joke, why wouldn't I want to hang out with you? You seem really cool." Luke said, sounding very sincere.

"We had never even talked until you ran into me this morning and now you want to hang out at the mall instead of with your other friends?"

"Yeah, they're all just a bunch of douche bags anyways." He said, smiling again. "You can trust me, I promise I would never do something like that to you."

"O-okay." I said, shocked by his response to my accusation.

He unlocked his car and opened the passenger door for me. When I was in, he got into the drivers seat and drove off. On the way to the mall, Luke blasted some pretty good music and he sang along. I couldn't help but laugh because it sounded absolutely terrible, but it was really cute. He would never act this way in front of his friends at school. My favorite song started playing and before I realized it, I was singing along.

"Wow, you have a good voice." Luke said, looking over at me.

"Oh thank you." I said, laughing nervously. The rest of the car ride was silent, except for the radio but it was a short ride so it wasn't too awkward. When we got to the mall, we walked inside and  stared walking into random stores.

We talked the whole time that we were there. I wasn't quite sure, but it seemed like he might have been flirting with me. The thought of it made my heart beat really fast. He was so sweet to me and seemed kind of nervous. Especially when  we were walking and he started to reach for my hand but pulled it away before I could react.

I got to know Luke a lot better when we were there. He was so much nicer than he seemed to be. I also learned that he is a huge nerd who likes to play Pokemon and Legend of Zelda on his DS, but I wasn't allowed to tell anyone about that because he'd be embarrassed if anyone knew the quarterback is a Nintendo freak. He looked into my eyes when I talked to him and he never interrupted me.

After a few hours of walking around aimlessly, we walked back to his car and he took me back to the school so I could drive back to my house. The drive to the school was a lot less awkward than the drive earlier. He was still singing along to the radio, but this time I joined in too. When we got back to the school he walked me back to my car.

"Thanks for hanging out wit me today. I had a lot of fun with you." Luke said, blushing.

"I had a lot of fun too." I said. I hoped my face didn't look as red as it felt. I wondered if he could hear my heart beating because it was pounding so hard. He took a step closer to me, smiling shyly.

"You know, you're really amazing." He said.

'W-what?" I asked, completely surprised at what he had just said.

"You're absolutely beautiful, you're really sweet and funny. I've always really liked you, I just get too nervous to talk to you." Luke said quietly as he took yet another step towards me. He had gotten really close to me and he began to reach out to give me a hug.

"I-I really like you too." I said, shocked at the words that came out of my mouth.

He gave me a hug that seemed to last forever and when he began to pull away he stopped, looked right into my eyes and leaned in. Before I knew it, Luke had kissed me. After a few seconds, he gave me another hug and started to walk back to his car. I got into my car and drove home. Only one thought crossed my mind the entire drive home:

"Did I really just have my first kiss with the quarterback of the football team?"
