"Not my FACE! I thought we agreed to that."
"Of course darling." A punch in my gut.
I saw stars. The pain was good. I deserved it. But this time it actually felt like he was going to kill me.

I was slipping into that fog again. That mindless haze that stripped me of any conscience or feelings.

I reached out for the drawer to find a pair of shears I use for trimming my hair. He was approaching to this end of our bedroom very quickly.

I pulled out the shears and turned around in time to see his eyes widen. He put his hands up to defend himself. I attacked him with a wild abandon. It's either me or him. He actually dodged my shear twice. The whole world slowed down as if I saw myself from a distance when I brought the shear down and it sunk into his right shoulder. He gave out a strangled cry.

I watched in shock as he slumped on the wall and grabbed the only thing lying next to him; a lamp, and swung it towards my head. There was a flash of black tinged with red and I my consciousness slipped away like sand from a clenched fist.
