Chapter 15: Reaching Tipping Point

[Y/N POV]

I wasn't really sure why I was feeling the way I was, but I felt something was up. And it had been boiling for quite some time...

Y/N: Is it me or do the other workers seem to be getting...disgruntled?

Speck: I suppose I should tell you, there has been a major problem between us and the witches for a while now.

Y/N: Yeah, I kinda figured that.

Speck: Yes but I mean there is a deeper rooted problem. And it's not really to do with them not really accepting us or anything. I more talking about the agreements we have.

Y/N: What's the matter with the agreements?

Speck: We require magical energy to be able to even move around and do anything for this school.

Y/N: I see and let me guess, they aren't giving you enough?

Speck: That is what the others think! Or some of them, there are those of us who just want to get on work because, it really isn't worth fighting over!

Y/N: Fighting?

Speck: Oh yes! Some would fight to get a fairer share of its magic power!

Oh...now that was really bad!

Y/N: They would get hurt. They wouldn't stand a chance against students of magic.

Speck: That's why they won't do it. But I hope that your presence here will be enough to help them see that we do get things done! A human who is willing to help us no matter how out of place they are!

Y/N: Trust me, I feel more comfortable with all of you than I do with the students! It's an all girls school! And I am aware of some who have taken an interest in me.

Speck: Will it affect your relationship with Miss Cavendish?

Y/N: No it won't! Because I would never cheat on Diana! Nothing in this world could make me fall for someone else.

I was determined to make that clear to everyone! Even her family who will certainly not approve of me!

Y/N: Back onto the whole magical energy thing, can't you negotiate with them?

Speck: They won't listen to us! We are just faeries! I have never seen anyone of us even try to!

Y/N: Do you think they would listen to me?

Speck: Hmmm maybe. But witches are stubborn young master! I wouldn't risk it!

Y/N: Yeah well, they're not even paying me to do this. I would use that against them, but come to think of it I'm not really in the mood to use money as a means to blackmail my employers.

Like I said to Bice in the library, seeing Diana again was a sufficient method of payment.

Speck: But maybe sometimes you have to do what must be done. For the sake of your friends!

I look at my goblin friend. I could tell how much this whole thing really did affect him.

Y/N: I'll promise to do my best...and if you all need to take a while to breathe and relax then I'll handle everything. I'm capable enough.

Speck: You act with such kindness in your heart and your intentions, but I'm sure that the rest of us would not want you to be alone out there. As long as you work, we work. When you get tired, then so do we!

Y/N: Haha, but don't force yourselves on too much.

There were a few moments of silence before I spoke up again.
