I turned away from Jim to leave the gym. Funny. I snort just a little and turned right to make my way to the locker rooms.
Jim seemed like a sweet guy, maybe a little misunderstood since he came off as so shy. Now I understand why Toby keeps around and defends him. He isn't as bad as people make him out to be. Maybe he just doesn't like a lot of people, reserved.
I shake my head and smile a little. You're thinking about him too much Claire.
But I can't help it.
He's so...intriguing. He gave our small world the impression of a brooding, moody, stoic boy but he's actually quite the opposite. He was charming, quiet, shy, but very polite to me.
I suppose I have no reason to be on his bad side. Not that I wanted to be, of course. I wouldn't want those eyes of his to be filled with anger the next time I see hi-
Ipurse my lips into a tight line and frown. This really needs to stop.
I shake my head vigorously as I walk out of the girl's locker room doors. I could see Jim and Toby out of the corner of my eye. Toby had a big grin on his face, saying something to Jim, who looked mildly annoyed with his arms crossed.
I couldn't help but smile at their friendship. It was so unique. They were complete opposites but they balanced each other out perfectly.
I heard my name being called by one of my own friends, Mary, so I turn to leave.(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧ Timeskipppp to the next day after school~
My feet ached a little as I began my quiet walk home.
I really need other shoes to wear to school. Wearing boots everyday isn't doing good for me. As a matter of fact, I wear the same thing nearly everyday. Actually...we ALL do! Why is th-
A voice disturbed me from my train of thought. It was a whisper, and it sounded frantic."Claire Nunez..."
I look around, eyes wide, but see no one around me. That wasn't the strangest part though. I am in an area that's nowhere near my house. There's a park that cuts down to a ravine on my right. This ravine isn't near home. Home was the other way, and so was the school. Why was I walking here?
As I looked into the ravine, something caught my attention. It was a pile of rubble? Or stone? It was a dark, rocky substance that just laid there within the empty and rather clean ravine. That's not all.
A faint, glowing blue light could be seen within it, and I felt hypnotized. My name was in the air again, but I barely paid attention.
I jumped into the ravine and ran like my life depended on it. Despite my aching feet, I pushed harder than I ever have before. But why?
I didn't have time to think about it. I already arrived at the scene and didn't hesitate to reach in and grab the blue light.
Cold metal laid in the palm of my hand, and for a brief moment I was washed with relief. That didn't last long though. I was still on high alert. Everything in my body told me to grab this...thing and run.
So I did. I wasted no time turning on my heels and bolting back up the ravine towards the school.
I felt like I was running out of time, like I was in danger, that my whole world was in danger. I never felt anything like this before in my life. It was terrifying, and I barely had control over what I was doing. But I knew one thing, one thing for sure that would guarantee my safety temporarily, and would probably be good information for me in the future.Get home before sundown today and you will live to see another day ...
