Okay! So I haven't done one of these in a while, but my motivation just appeared again today while my sister was watching Gravity Falls again (without me, may I add), and I wrote a little more of The Legend Goes On, which features Celia. The prompt for day 5 was "sad", so I did the best I could.
Originally, I was going to draw her sad and shocked, with a hand over her mouth, but turns out I can't draw hands that well. So instead, I kind of used the facial expressions of Mabel from the show to model her expression.

I don't know why the picture is so small, but moving on...
I genuinely really like the shading/lighting on this one. I chose a different angle on it and it looks pretty good! I was reading a book about anime facial expressions, and there was a lot about lighting, and how if it's lit from underneath it looks scarier, as opposed to from above, etc. And I know the style I use isn't anime (not even close) but the same techniques are used and it still has the same effect. So that's what I tried, and it turned out good!
I'm hoping to update with more from this challenge soon, because motivation has returned, probably only briefly, and I'll try update Celia's fic more while I can. Which you should definitely all read. It's one of my favourite ones by me, to be honest.
