Percy shoved the door of Paul's car open, and was followed by Elise and Leo in the back seat. Paul grabbed his arm. "Percy," he warned. "Be careful." Percy nodded. He turned and bolted into the Empire State Building. Leo and Elise skidded over to the elevator and stopped behind Percy, who hit the elevator door with his fist. The light blinked, indicating an elevator already in motion. He ran to the other elevator and punched the button. The elevator didn't appear forty seconds later. Percy shoved Riptide in between the doors and pried open the broken door, bolting into the elevator and noticing that the engines were down as well. He tore an out of order sign off of the buttons and sheathed Riptide.
"Crap," he muttered. Leo ran over. Removing a soldering iron and welding tool, he repaired the keypad. Elise reassured the frantic receptionist, and Percy shoved Riptide into the button that read 600. He felt extra-pressured determination since Annabeth became his wife. It was his responsibility to protect her. "I'm coming Annabeth!" He yelled up. Arachne, only ten minutes ago had Iris-messaged Percy through Paul's water bottle. It showed a trembling and crying Annabeth stumbling across the border to Olympus with a large bundle. That's not all Percy knew, though. He knew that he wanted to kill Arachne, and mount her stuffed spider-lady head on a plaque in the Big House. The elevator shot up to the 600th floor, where Percy, Leo, and Elise ran into Olympus. Percy shoved Arachne aside, but she caught Elise and Leo in an elaborate web.
"Go on, Percy!" Leo yelled when Percy began to return for them. "Go save Annabeth!" Percy nodded and ran into the throne room, stopping in his tracks when he watched Annabeth enter with the satchel. Athena stood first.
"Annabeth?" She asked. Poseidon stood, followed by Zeus and Hera. Shaking, Annabeth lifted a tapestry. Percy caught a glimpse of the horrific picture before any of the Olympians, and He slashed Riptide through the picture. Annabeth collapsed. Riptide wasn't doing much, so Percy grabbed a torch of Greek Fire and stood back as the tapestry dissolved in the green flame. Annabeth collapsed into Percy's arms and cried, clutching his upper arms. Athena was confused. "Annabeth, what is the meaning of this?" Annabeth sobbed.
"Arachne. Again. Kidnapped-basement, tapestry. Of. Your. Death." Her voice shook, and Athena shot a murderous glare at the entrance gate, where a terrible web started to strangle Leo and Elise. Poseidon and Hephaestus stood in shared rage, and took action. Posiedon and Percy blasted Arachne with water, and Hephaestus shot a burning ball of Greek Fire at her. Elise and Leo were thrown back. Athena raced to the border, where she grew into her full godly form. Burning brighter than the sun itself, Athena burned Arachne to ashes where she lay stricken from the blast.
"Hopefully she doesn't regenerate in Tartarus," she muttered. She grew back into her regular form and gathered Annabeth and Percy into her arms. That was the first time Athena had ever actually shown that she knew he existed, let alone that she cared about him. Poseidon ran to take care of Elise. Percy gasped for air. Arachne was dead- at least for now.
