The low light on at all times, and there were cords hanging down for the nurses call button and the IV solutions. An electronic machine sitting on a cart with odd wires leading from it, a privacy curtain hanging from a track on the ceiling. There are wires glued to the Bokuto's chest and coming up through the neck of his hospital gown...the most embarrassing garment invented that has no back.

The doctor told his parents everything is fine but they didn't believe them. They demanded a second opinion or to be rechecked. Y/n stood there emotionless. Trying to piece every shattered puzzles back into her mind. That was when the whole volleyball team came in.

" Y/n! " Konoha rushed in and hugged her tight. Akaashi who was sitting by the corner, had his eyes glued on the two hugging figures, deadpanned. " How's Bokuto? " Konoha rubbed y/n's back, calming her down as the smaller frame trembled in his arms. Y/n shook her head. Konoha caressed her head. His wrist was seized by the bigger male. He winced as the raven haired male's grip tighten.

" Woah, shake it off, Akaashi. " Konoha pulled his hand away from Akaashi. The male sent him a deadly glare that made Konoha retreated himself from y/n. Akaashi grabbed y/n and wrapped her in his arms. His eyes were still on Konoha. Don't you fucking dare to touch Y/n with your filthy hands.

" Stop it, you two. We're here to see Bokuto, not to fight. " Washio stepped in to stop the silent battle. He was aware that Akaashi will be extra overprotective whenever Konoha was around y/n. Konoha huffed, dusted off his shirt and walked towards Sarukui.

Washio turned to Akaashi, who was still hugging y/n. " You were there during the accident. What happened? " he asked briefly. Akaashi frowned as he tried to remember that distressing incident.

" He saved me from being hit by the lorry. " his breath hitched as he tried to hold back his tears. Hearing that, y/n sobbed harder.

" This was all my fault. " y/n's words made the whole volleyball team stunned. Slowly, she pulled away from Akaashi and faced everyone before bowing herself 90 degrees to apologise. Bokuto's parents begged her to stand up and not to take the blame for what happened to Bokuto but she insisted on taking all the responsibility. If it was not because her for hurting Akaashi, neither Akaashi or Bokuto would be involved in the accident.

Bokuto's parents strictly denied everything since she was not at the scene when it happened. And... they did not blame Akaashi too.

Time skip (In the hospital's waiting lounge, 3:25am)

Everyone from the volleyball team went home along with Bokuto's parents, only Akaashi, y/n and Konoha stayed behind for Bokuto. Y/n sat on the couch, not saying a word after Bokuto's parents left. Akaashi was nowhere to be seen. Konoha took the opportunity to take a seat besides y/n to cheer her up. Y/n wasn't responding to any of his words. She leaned on his shoulder before shutting her eyes close. She was exhausted for crying a lot. Konoha felt bad for y/n. He can do nothing but to watch from far whenever Akaashi was around them. He cared for y/n too just like how Bokuto would. Konoha sighed in distressed. He rested his head on Y/n's before trying to get some sleep.

Akaashi entered the lounge room, none other than to feel displeased with what he saw with his two eyes. He cleared his throat to get Konoha's attention but both Konoha and y/n were in a deep sleep. Akaashi took a seat opposite to Konoha and y/n, crossing his arms while staring at the couple. You won't get away with this.

The owl finally opened his eyes after being coma for a few days. His parents were so happy to see him regained his consciousness. His teammates took turns to visit him. He was bright as usual. Except for one, he didn't really remember what had happened during the accident. So, the authorities were having quite a hard time to question him.
