The glade.

A place I had been confined in for three years. My heart yearned to see what lay beyond the concrete jungle yet it had not yet been satisfied, instead, I explore it's confusing, misleading path that seemed to have no end.

My feet carried me, a heavy silence looming between Minho and myself. Our breaths were heavy, chests falling and rising quickly.

"Minho, we should get back- it's getting late." I suggested, the raven-haired boy glanced up; the sun danced across the concrete walls, shadows cast upon them indicating it was indeed time to head back. He nodded, gesturing for me to follow.

As we winded through the concrete walls, we sparked up a light conversation.

"So, you excited for tonight? I'm sure gally cooked up a mean potion again. And the greenie, we can finally talk to him" I enquired, a soft chuckle passing through my lips.

Minho joined me, also laughing. "Of course, but hey- you better not beat his ass again otherwise he might throw a fit."

"Oh, that poor baby. Cant handle having his ass beat by the one and only~" I cooed, Minho gently shoved me, "Careful, he might get you for that one" he warned with a playful smirk. I rolled my eyes shoving him back, "I'll have to teach him a lesson then."

The playful bickering continued, the once heavy atmosphere had a light feeling to it.

Once we had made our way back, the sight of our familiar flora-filled home pleased my eyes. Newt stood, awaiting our arrival.

We halted at the exit, stopping to relax our throbbing muscles. The sun now barley kissed the tree tops, leaving the glade with minimum illumination.

A heavy feeling fell upon the atmosphere once again, the usual gust of wind quickly passed through the maze entrance, almost blowing me away. Minho brought a hand to my back, holding me up.

The cracking of turning gears erupted from the concrete doors, the screeching of stone piercing our ears. We watched as the grey walls swiftly inched toward one another, ready to fit together like a puzzle. An obnoxious thump! was heard from all around, this indicated that the maze was now impossible to enter for the night. Most importantly, impossible to leave.

"Well, you two bloody barley made it back but at least you did make it back!" Newt exclaimed, his usual goofy smile cling to his face. I treaded lightly towards the boy, ruffling his hair, a pleased expression graced my face, "You know us, we make it back no matter what."

Newt nodded, ushering me into an embrace. My arms wrapped around the lanky boys torso, a content hum passing through my vocal chords.

Minho ruffled my hair, gesturing for me to follow him so we could fix the map. I couldn't help but grimace. Although being a runner had its perks, changing the small wooden sticks around was tedious work. I removed myself from Newts embrace with a gentle motion.

With now more light breathing, Minho and I once again walked side by side as we talked about the night ahead of us.

"Minho! Cmon' man we're done here, the rest of the guys are waiting for us." I pouted, the boy cocked a brow, his soft features illuminated by the candles that made the room a little brighter. With one heavy exhale and a sloppy nod, he finally caved in.

I swiftly pulled him from the seat he sat in, dragging him by his arm out of the room we were stuck in for the past hour.

A fire danced in the middle of the glade, it's orange hue beckoning us forwards. My body begged for proper rest, somewhere warm is what it needed.

As we grew closer, the warmth hit my front like a warm blanket, i brought my arms up; hugging myself. Gally staggered over towards me, handing his usual concoction towards me, it was in a fairly large cup. I brought the elixir to my mouth, chugging down a quarter of the cups contents in a heart beat, with a raspy inhale i wiped my mouth, thanking Gally with a light pat on his shoulder. Although the drink tasted ghastly, it often gave us all a buzz we needed every now and then.

Gally turned, returning to his post in the small circle the boys had created. I spotted Newt sitting by the greenie and approached whilst Minho wandered towards the builders.

"Greenie! How's your first day?" I greeted, the brunette flicked his gaze in my direction, an obviously confused expression forming on his face. "Oh yeah, I'm Y/n, one of the runners." I had explained, before the greenie could respond Newt interrupted, "Don't bother asking her about becoming a runner mate."

The brunette huffed in defeat, he took a sip from Gallys mix, immediately holding the jar away from him; his face uncomfortably contorted. "Today has been confusing, I mean nothing makes sense.." He explained, I nodded my head as i took another swig from my own jar, not hinting the rotten taste the drink produced, "Yep. The first days like that, but you'll figure out what's best for you soon enough." I responded, Newt added onto my point with a firm 'mmhm'.

Within a few moments, I had finished my drink. I went to go for more but Newt had stopped me, although tomorrow was my day off it didn't mean I could slack off due to drinking too much.

Newt and I sat side by side as we held a light conversation with the Greenie. Whilst we were talking, Gally had egged him on and convinced him to fight.

Eventually, the green bean caved in. He stood up, finding his way to the centre of the circle. Though I did enjoy watching the usual fight, I couldn't help but feel a tinge of guilt for the new boy; he hadn't watched Gally fight before, so, he would have no clue how he fought.

Gally explained the rules, a cocky smile evident on his face.

Greenie was first to rush forwards, with ease, Gally shoved him out of the circle. The boys seemed enticed by the fight, Newt too, so I took the chance and wandered to a make-shift table that held the drinks on it.

I grabbed myself another full jar, wolfing it down in a heart beat, grinning as the buzz from the first drink finally came through.

My gaze shifted to the sky, white twinkling lights dispersed across a navy canvas. The moon shon brightly among them, my eyes dancing across every bit of detail.

"Thomas! My name, it's Thomas!" Greenie yelled out, I heard the boys yell "Thomas!" before evidently cheering. With a soft smile I watched them huddle together, congratulating the boy.

Eventually, they once again dispersed into their usual crowds, Newt returning to my side by the table. He raised a brow, "Snag another buggin' drink now have we?" he enquired, I shrugged, now a little loopy because of it "Perhaps, but loosen up Newty boy. Enjoy the night whilst it's young!". Newt huffed, using one of his arms to pull me to a log nearby.

He sat down with me, holding my shoulder.

"Y/n. You never drink like this, now tell me what's goin' on in that buggin' mind of yours. Will ya'?"

I allowed myself to glance at the stars once again, avoiding Newt entirely, "The stars, aren't they pretty?"

He snapped a finger in-front of my face, "Y/n. What's buggin' wrong."

With a heavy sigh, I began.
