As soon as I met Bucky's eye my single sob turned to an outpour of tears. "y/n? what's happened" he asked in a sleepy voice, even though he was rubbing the sleep from his eyes he was already up and alert. I could feel two things coming from him, a hangover and an overwhelming amount of concern. Bucky had gone into his high alert mode.
I turned from him, got off the bed and onto the floor to start picking up the small pieces of the broken tea cup littered around my room. "Nothing. It's fine" I managed between my tears "Sorry Bucky but you should go" I said as kindly as I could while wiping my tears away with my sleeve.
Bucky walked around the bed, he was still wearing his clothes from last night, his shirt was half undone and I noticed his blazer was neatly folded over my reading chair.
He plonked himself down next to me on the floor and moved cautiously to put a hand on my back. I slapped him away.
"y/n talk to me" he pleaded softly.
I let out a really big sob, feeling the confusion and concern washing off of Bucky. I took a deep breath to calm myself down and forced out "It's just, I don't remember anything at all".
His lips formed into a silent 'oh', and for a moment I thought I felt relief wash over him, as if he was concerned he had done something to make me sob this hard.
"and the broken tea cup?" he asked, still speaking softly. This question brought back the feelings of anger that had washed off of Loki and another sob left me.
"It was Loki, he brought it to me and then he just..." that was all I could manage before I completely broke down. Loki's emotions had been so loud that it was almost deafening, and with him being so close I could still feel them through the walls. I wasn't sure anyone had ever been that disgusted by me, and I couldn't imagine that feeling coming to me from my own Umesco.
Bucky took a deep sigh and relaxed slightly, which felt like the wrong reaction.
"y/n, nothing happened between us last night" he started, I held my breath.
"At some point last night you started to feel pretty unwell, I was going to bed anyway so offered to take you up, and Thor insisted on coming too" he said with a light smile.
"You got pretty upset, you seemed like you were in a lot of pain too" he was stroking my back now, trying to calm me.
"You were really upset about something, complaining about your head, something about a call being too loud?" he looked at me to see if that made any sense and I nodded for him to keep going.
"I sent Thor back to the party pretty quickly because you were shouting at him for making your head worse" a pang of guilt ran through me, I would never want Thor to feel like he had hurt me, I suppose in a drunken state the call had gotten the best of me.
Bucky pulled me a little closer to him as I started to calm down and accepted his hug "But you seemed really scared and I thought it was best if I stayed a while, I was just going to sit with you till you fell asleep but I guess I passed out too" he let out a huge breath and looked into my eyes with genuine regret as he said "I'm so sorry pal".
I let out a few final sniffs and tuned to face him properly "why are you sorry?" I asked, confused. He turned a little awkward for a second, and rubbed his head.
"I'd hate to think I messed things up between you and Loki just because I fell asleep" he said with an awkward laugh, I was a taken aback "Nothing has happened between Loki and I" I mumbled quickly.
"No, I know" he said with a soft smile "but I see how you two look at each other, he's been making a genuine effort with people, and you'd have to be a total idiot to not realise that's because of you" I was a little lost for words.
