TW: blood, explosions, death, guns

In the end, there would be nothing. There was no one to turn to and no way to save themselves. The people of Theia had known that for a while now. There was nothing they could do except wait for their doom as their planet edged closer to Earth every day. Now, they had finally reached their last moments.

Watching from their spaceship, Europa and Apollo could do nothing as their home planet smashed into Earth. Chunks of rock and debris flew through the vast, endless abyss surrounding them. The red and orange lava flew from the centre of each planet. Theia was now inside the core of Earth. His family had been crushed and destroyed. His home was gone. All of the memories he had made were now in places that didn't exist.

All of the surviving population was gathered there, in front of the largest window that faced it.

Apollo stood there in shock. It had happened. There was no way to describe it. Over three-quarters of the population had just been killed in front of him. His mother, father, sister and friends were all gone. Everyone was gone forever and, he could not do anything about it. A tear ran down his face, followed by a flood. He should have stayed. He should have protected his family. He should have done something but, he was
too scared.

Europa stared emotionlessly towards the wreck of the planets. Apollo was glad she was safe. She was his only friend still alive. She was the only person he had left.
"You ok?" he asked, wiping away his tears.
"How can I be ok? How can anyone feel fine after this?" she replied, almost laughing, almost crying. She was right - stunned faces and tears were almost everywhere. Everyone had lost most of their family and
friends.

An hour later, Apollo returned to his room. Europa had somehow left without him noticing. He had wanted to look for her but, he needed a break from everyone. It was so busy on the ship; everyone was talking about what had just happened. He didn't want to think about it. Apollo just needed to forget it. Nothing would ever be the same for anyone. Not for the people who had just died or the people who survived.

"It's time," The monotone voice of their leader filled the ship. Apollo stood up and locked his door. Earth had cooled down and, there was no debris in the way to prevent them from landing. Luckily, it hadn't taken too long for them to prepare. Time worked differently on Earth to how it had done on Theia. Everything was faster down there. By the time they landed, any plants that had survived the crash would've grown hundreds of times.

A sudden jolt shook Apollo and, the engines began to rumble. Within minutes, they would be on their new home planet. He needed to find Europa before they got down. Even if she didn't want him to be there, she needed to know he would be there for her if she wanted anything. Apollo had known Europa for years and, he needed her as much as she might need him. They had always stuck together and, even if he wished his family was still alive, he was glad he had his closest friend out of everyone from Theia.

Apollo opened his door again and ran through the corridors to find Europa's room.
"201, that's her, right?"

He opened the door cautiously, not wanting to startle anyone if it wasn't her. It was her but, she was asleep on the plain white bed in the corner. He stood there for a moment, silently hoping she would wake up, but left a few seconds later. He could always talk to her later. She would still be there when they reached Earth.

"Stay away from any windows." a croaky female voice announced across the ship. Butterflies fluttered in Apollo's stomach. They were nearly there. It would never replace Theia but, they would be safe at least. He had to stay positive because, unlike most of the population, he got a second chance. Apollo still thought they could have built more spaceships for others to escape. But, according to the President, there was not enough time to manufacture more than one spaceship. It was stupid how little they had tried to get more people away. They could have saved millions of lives but, they didn't try.

When Apollo finally reached his room, he sat down in the middle of the floor. The grey walls and floor were the same in every part of the ship. Nothing was personal at all but, what was the point? The rooms were only temporary and, they didn't want to waste any of the money that would soon be worthless. If he had a choice, he would have painted it light blue to match his little sister's hair. Or, maybe light purple to match her skin. Just something to remind him of his home.

"Thirty seconds left." announced the same croaky female voice as earlier. Apollo jumped up and headed towards the meeting hall. Purple faces smiling greeted him as he stepped out of his room. Everyone was so excited to be reaching Earth at last. Despite the fact they hadn't been there that long, Apollo could tell everyone was fidgeting and agitated by the lack of fresh air. He scanned the room for Europa but couldn't find her in the bustling and loud atmosphere.

"One second remaining."

They were there. Everyone had landed on Earth safely. Apollo saw Europa right by the doors and slipped through the crowd to talk to her. Before he could say anything, the doors opened slowly, revealing the grey world outside.

Strange structures dominated the miserable skyline along with occasional glimpses of flying creatures. It was nothing like Theia but, this was their home now. They were safe.

But, in front of them were pink beings, holding some unusual stick. They made some unusual noises then stepped closer to the ship.

Everyone started to walk closer. Something came out of the strange stick the creatures were holding. People fell to the ground and black blood spilt across the floor. They had to go. Now.

Apollo grabbed Europa and tried to get back inside. Everything happened in slow motion as a shot from the creatures hit her in the middle of her head; she collapsed. Apollo stopped running. He had no one left. Apollo was alone and, he would never have anyone again.

A bullet sliced through his head. Apollo fell to the ground next to Europa as his black blood spilt into hers.

No one from Theia survived that day.
