My name is Hanae Koto, a fresh graduate from the Shinzo Academy. Today is my first day to work in the Survey Corpse as a scientist to study Titans and identify their historical roots, body titanatomy, and weaknesses. I'm currently standing outside of the dorms, just a few seconds away from knocking on the door. I know that if I enter this room, a whole new world will be opened to me and I'll be taking part in the war for humanity's freedom.
"Wuahhh Moblit! A newbie is here!", a woman shouted out through the second-floor dorm window.
"Hanji-san, hanging outside the window like that is dangerous. Please get down from there.", someone pulled her back into the dorm and closed the doors.

I was a bit startled, so I waited outside the door with my hands on the luggage my mother packed for me. I was happy to be a part of the Survey Corps and finally help the members to defeat the titans. But I was nervous to knock on the door, so I silently waited for the footsteps to get closer and simply open the door.
"Hanji-san, don't run! You are too excited"

I could hear someone speak from a far distance from the door as another footstep got near.
"Welcome. My name is Hanji Zoe, the head of the Titan-research team in the Survey Corpse", she held my hand.

She pulled me forward, leaning closer to me. Her copper-colored eyes sparkled like an innocent child, waiting for me to pull out a surprise gift.
I blushed.
Hanji Zoe, the name that I've admired for so long back in the classrooms of the Shinzo academy. She was in front of me, that too, holding my hands.
"Ah, sorry did I scare you? I got a little carried away. It's been 12 years since anyone volunteered to join the Titan-research team in the Survey Corpse".
"Hanji-san!", a man came running down the stairs as he huffed to catch his breath".
"This is Moblit Berner, my assistant, and co-founder of this Titan-research lab".
"Hanji-san, let her introduce herself"
"Oh right, my bad my bad". The two welcomed me inside.
