the poison glade

to my past love

quiet whispers.

soft sounds.

wind blowing through the flowers.

what used to be a safe haven for you and me.

maybe i should have noticed the signs.

so obvious now i look at it.

you seemed so sure of yourself, walking with a swagger.

when i pointed it out, my words were met with a laugh.

oh, how happy you seemed.

so self confident.

a vision of perfection i didn't deserve.

your fingers entwined with mine.

invisible fireworks of excitement exploding in my mind.

a universe of excitement.

a galaxy of possibility.

the stars shining in your eyes reflecting the sky.

bright and glittering.

you passed all your pain to me.

and yet, i never stopped to wonder.

why.

why, why, why.

such a pointless word when no one knows the answer.

i can still see you, that one night.

grasping my hand and running with me.

you were like an angel, guiding me to the perfect places.

past the enchanting golden gates.

to this perfect glade of poison flowers.

and i let myself fall into your easy trust.

"look, the stars have aligned."

one by one, silver and gold.

in a bright, clear, pattern, shimmering across the sky.

i pointed out constellations.

such a perfect night.

ethereal mists gliding across the night.

tilting your head to the side, you gestured 'round.

the blossoms still in the night.

if only i hadn't fallen for your charms like that.

 ♡

the flowers themselves are not poison.

your words are.

they are beautiful.

too little of a word to describe them.

after you destroyed me, i couldn't leave this place.

"so, let's take this pain and make it pretty like the flowers of the poison glade."

[A/N So, I'm an amateur poet, which means that this is terrible and doesn't make sense. but I'm too sleep deprived to care. Also, this poem is purely a work of fiction and not based on any real events. With that, thanks for reading the... really bad stuff that comes of of my brain.]
