nica came late to the boarding house after learning that she had received a scholarship from the university a few months after the school started. she wasn't welcomed well by some of the residents especially patrisha, blaming her for her friend, ligaya's disappearance. her family came from the northern part of luzon but she didn't disclose exactly where. she never really learned who her parents were and grew up with her grandmother and aunt.
an old woman gave her a golden sun locket and told her that there's something bad in the house as she was a former resident of it in the 1920s. one by one, mysteries are unlocked by her and the club they started, naming it after the goddess of morning, hanan.
