Aaliyah always dreamt about living a life right out of a coming of age movie, with all the adventures, late night drives and romance that came with it. The only thing keeping her from making her fantasy a reality is, well, herself. Aaliyah has never been the most social girl, and don't even make her bring up the shitty excuse of a town she lives in — there's practically nothing interesting to do here!
Don't get it twisted, Aaliyah isn't a total loser. She has a couple of friends and she does go out from time to time but it just isn't enough for her. She's adventurous at heart, she longs for a life full of thrill and adrenaline! She wants to be able to make so many memories that she'd be able to fill an entire closet with scrapbooks and photo albums, to feel enough emotions to make her feel drunk without having to swallow a single drop of alcohol.
So when her mother announces that they would be moving thousands of miles away from the shit-hole she's always called home — on an island, at that — Aaliyah sees the opportunity of her life present itself, and she sure as hell won't ruin it.
In the few months they had before the big move — which would take place at the start of the summer — Aaliyah spends her entire savings on giving herself a makeover. The young girl is dead set on becoming the coolest, prettiest, most fly version of herself to stack all the odds in her favor.
And surely enough, Aaliyah does get the thrill and adrenaline she was seeking, craving so badly. Only she wasn't expecting to find it in a Indian Jones like treasure hunt and four rowdy teenagers.
