Reader POV
Kita gave me a bored look as he kept moving the snow clouds. "What is it, human?"
I hesitated for a moment. I didn't even know how to begin this conversation.
"Well get on with it! I've got to-"
"Kita, do you think you were ever a human?"
"No. Absurd. What did you want to speak to me about, stupid human? I really have to get-"
I held up a helmet, glaring at him. "Look at the scratch on the back."
Kita did so and he looked at me with confusion. "It's my handwriting. It says my family name."
I looked towards the sky as more snow began to fall. "It's your helmet from another life, Kita. One where you and I...knew each other."
"How do you know this? I am sure humans don't have any recollection of their past lives unless..." his eyes narrowed. "It was Akagi, wasn't it? Damn kitsune..."
"He showed me. And he may show you, but-"
"It's impossible. When Akagi tried to do so decades ago, I only saw a vision of water and a cherry blossom tree." Kita thought deeply, touching the war helmet and tracing the headpiece. "But I believe you. I recognize this helmet somehow."
"Then-"
"This is a serious matter, Song." He motioned for me to hold onto him as he commanded the wind to bring us to the weather tower that could be only accessed by him.
I took a look at the place and could only stare with wide eyes. "Wow..."
"Right?" Kita proudly placed his hand on my head. "This place is my home. Now to business."
He used his magic to move a tile in a certain sequence and a huge magic door appeared and disappeared as soon as we went through.
Inside the doorway was a staircase that went deep underground.
"I am uncertain how, but this staircase leads underneath the lake. I found a castle about 50 kilometers away from this point, but I can't get through. I trust you won't tell anyone about this?"
I nodded and he lit a torch, offering me a spare cloak.
"It's cold down here. I don't think Suna will be pleased if you caught a cold. And Yubaba won't let you see Nico if you're sick."
Kita used the wind to push us further and soon we were at a new doorway that had the Kita name.
"I wonder..." I held the helmet up to the doorway and a spark happened. The helmet magically opened the door and we were greeted with a new set of stairs.
"This is all so familiar to me," Kita mumbled as we walked up the stairs, me seeing drawings on the walls that looked like a battle.
As we walked up the spiral staircase, Kita's footsteps began to slowly get slower as he ran his fingers along the old wall, moss on the side from old age.
"And yet...I can't remember anything."
"It's the curse."
We both stopped and turned around only to see Akagi standing behind us with the twins and Suna.
"What are you doing here?"
"Never mind that," Osamu said. "Something dragged us all here. It was some creepy spirit with some mask."
All of them followed us up and the stairs lead to a huge room that was crumbling.
Akagi started walking slowly, his eyes widening. "Why do I recognize this place?"
"Us too," Atsumu shivered. "Why would I recognize some place humans from three hundred years ago made?"
Akagi pressed his hands to a broken piece of ceramic tile, his eyes widening. "It can't be..."
"What's going on?"
The dark-haired male told Osamu to put his hand on the tile.
Osamu did so and Akagi put the finger on his forehead.
Osamu's eyes widened and started filling with tears, his body shaking violently.
"It's all true. The dreams we all shared."
"What nonsense is this?!" Atsumu shoved his brother away, snatching up the tile. "Show me."
And he too was shown.
"What did you see?" I asked them.
The twins turned to me, anguish in their eyes as they said in unison; "War."
Suna was next. "Wow. I really was on the lake three hundred years ago. I thought it was some dream that was meaningless."
"Dreams aren't meaningless," Akagi said. "Shinsuke. Do you want to-"
"Not yet." Shinsuke walked out of the area and was in awe as he walked down the crumbling hallways and we got to a grand staircase made out of marble and other precious things.
"This is all so familiar to me," he mumbled as he stared at a huge throne.
"I can't take this anymore." Akagi tapped his forehead and all his memories appeared once more.
Kita's eyes widened and his body was rigid as he started running, all of us following.
We ran up the staircase and took three turns to see a grand room, gold almost everywhere.
There was a sort of platform with the markings of the Kita clan.
"This is the throne I used to play on and-and there's my father's sword!"
Kita pointed to a very old sword, rusted but not hiding its glory on the wall.
Kita sat down in the space, running his fingers along the wood. "My father used to play with my sister and me here. He said how one of us would rule one day. Of course, my grandfather disapproved of a girl running the clan one day, but I knew he'd rather have a girl run the clan than me."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I was born mute, which I'm sure you know, Kamo (y/n)."
I looked at him and nodded. "I do. But what's odd is that my body from my past life was turned into a tree, and I exist at the same time."
Suna shrugged. "It could be due to the fact your spirit has a new host. I'm not sure, we'd have to go ask Yubaba's twin sister Zeniba for help."
Kita paced around, his tails moving in deep thought. "How would we even get there? We can't all go."
The twins looked at each other then Suna.
"You two should go. We can keep Yubaba busy."
"So you have finally returned to me," Kita said with a much softer voice.
"But what's more is Yubaba," Osamu said. "If she really is that cursed vengeful spirit, we must be careful."
I know it's been a while since I updated, just been really busy with life.
