Fire in the Jungle

The boy walked around the forest, amused that even the slanted-eye wolves would run away when they saw him. Probably because they never saw a human before? Cannot be. He was sure they would gladly eat any source of food they chanced upon. Or maybe... maybe he looked different? When would that village come into sight anyway? The boy found a lake and looked in, he was surprised when he saw a hooded figure with red eyes glaring back at him. Oh wait, it was his reflection. He was wearing a hood because he saw wanted posters with his face printed on it nailed onto trees.

While he was still thinking about why he had red eyes, in the river reflection, he saw a black-furred wolf behind him.

"Nice!" the boy thought, "Now I have predators chasing after me! Just amazing! Not." He turned face to face to meet the wolf and the wolf snarled, "Just because you have red eyes shouldn't make me back down should it?"

"You... talk?"

"Heh, anything is possible if I want it to happen. Or at least anything to my body which I please. I recognise you from the posters on the tree trunks. Anything you say before I toss you in to the wolves. Hehe. That pun was good, no? Anyway, I just want the prize bounty on your head. I just need your head not your body, so I'll eat you, agreed?"

"No, which sane person agrees to death? And by the way that pun was fucking shit. Just saying before someone else says otherwise," the boy said while drawing his sword, hiding the gigantic bow and spear at his back, saving them for more dire needs. He set the sword's tip on fire and started to focus all his hate into the death of the wolf.

"Ha! No mind exploding trick works on me, boy. I am a wizard cum wolf. Never heard of a wolf who knows magic, eh? Nice trick with the sword though. What did you do? Make the sword out of wood and then set it on fire? Petty trick. My magic will extinguish it out." The boy shook his head deciding not to believe the words. He replied, "Magic huh?  My fire is magic too."

"Makes more sense why my brother wants you dead then. But then if I'm the wizard, you're just a boy with fire, you are just more than a nuisance, eh??" No more words came from the boy but instead he threw the sword towards the wolf with deadly aim. While the fire did extinguish from the magic force field, the wolf still had to dodge the sword itself. The wolf grumbled and lunged towards the boy, its maw twice the size of a normal wolf's one, forcing the boy to roll to avoid the killing blow, however, the wolf did catch on to his shoulder, he threw his spear upwards straight up to the jaw but it only pierced its jaw partially. Without the flame, it was just an ordinary spear.

"Damn this damn wolf!" he cried trying to pry the wolf's jaw open and away from his shoulder, he failed, as he expected. The wolf gave a satisfied look and pull its jaw away, with the boy's shoulder.

Grimacing and clenching his teeth, the boy imagined a spear in his hand made of pure fire, to the boy's surprise the wolf was surprised too. It unclenched its jaw just for that brief moment and the boy took advantage of its shock as a distractor against itself, he plunged the spear straight through the wolf's lower skull and diagonally up to sever the spine -- to the boy's immediate disgust when he saw a blob of brain matter plop on his face when he extinguished his spear -- and also causing immediate death for the wolf -- to the boy's dismay as he had wanted the wolf to suffer more. He stood up from the ground and turned to survey his dead enemy while trying his best to wipe away the brain matter.

"Well, ultimately it is a win for me isn't it?" the boy mock comforted himself with a lopsided grin plastered across his face and then a bit of the brain slipped onto his lips. Disgusted, he spitted it out on instinct and used his hand to wipe his tongue. He then used his armored boot to kick the wolf's head until it almost dislodged before the wolf turned back into a human and he decided to leave before he saw more brain mess. He quickly wiped his spear's head on the human's naked body before smirking, "Some shit wizard he is, huh? His brain is still crap though. Argh..." He felt fire across his right shoulder and immediately winced. Right, he had forgotten that his shoulder was half bitten off.

The boy prodded his finger into a huge hole where the jaw of the wolf had originally bit down and amazingly, flame erupted from his finger; causing more pain than before. He yelped in surprise for the pain was startling when he saw that part of his shoulder muscles were melting onto the bottom half. There was a sizzling sound like water on a flame and smoke rose before the front half of his shoulder sealed like there was never a hole before, not that there was one originally there anyway. He then proceeded with the back part and like glue, they rejoined back.

However, his shoulder felt extremely numb. Well he did boil himself, literally, of course he would feel numb. He shifted his spear to his left arm and picked up his sword from the ground before placing it back in the scabbard. Guess he now knew how to heal himself. Now that is nice! The boy patted his trusty stone spear and bow which he had whistled himself with his blade and looked up to his next destination. That was when he saw a nearby village in the woods who had dozens of swords with them. Wait... what?
