Homesick

Strange man so gentle
smiles a lazy smile
softening features
in a way so unfamiliar
an expression like sleepy friends
or drunken fools
in paradises, glowing red

On the edge of my sofa
smearing lipstick all over
my cups and glasses
filled with burning liquids

Darling man whose name
I'll never know

To sleep under your wing
with intuitive faith
dependence we call trust

Feels safe like home
