20. Can we talk?

"What happened?" Jungwon said right as he and Niki entered Jake's bedroom. Jake smiled, "how did you know something was wrong?"

"Spidey sense"

"Niki, no" Jungwon rolled his eyes, "what happened?"

Jake sat up in his bed with a sigh as Niki sat at his desk and Jungwon sat on the bed next to him. "Today I was talking to Sunghoon about what he said in the group chat yesterday and—I don't know he just came off as," Jake paused for a second, thinking of a word, "controlling? Possessive? I can't think of a word."

"Well what did he say?"

"He said if we were dating he wouldn't let me go to a party cause he's afraid I'd cheat on him."

The room went silent after that, both boys shocked at the revelation, neither of them knowing what to say. Jake spoke up, "I don't know am I being dramatic? It just seems like such a red flag to me because you know it starts with the parties and then you can't see your friends and then you're locked in the house because your boyfriend can't trust that you won't make eye contact with the human species and I'm just not going to deal with that again-"

"You're not going to, Jake," Jungwon interuppted, his hands resting on Jake's shoulders and forcing him to make eye contact. "You've grown and you're not going to say yes to everything someone says to you anymore no matter how much you care for them, right? You're not the same person you used to be." Jake nodded, slowly calming his racing heart down as Jungwon spoke the words to him.

"I'll just say what we're all thinking," Niki spoke for the first time, now sitting on the bed next to the duo, "he sounds exactly like your bitch of an ex. I'd understand being worried for your safety, cause there's a reason people don't go to parties alone, but him thinking you'd cheat on him shows a lot of distrust." Jungwon nodded as Jake sighed, "the thing is I don't think he realizes that this mindset is toxic, so is it really his fault?"

"So make him understand," Jungwon said, "you like him, right? That means he's a good guy. I say you talk to him, explain your side and your feelings—because your feelings are valid—and if he's a good guy he'll understand your concerns."

"We are only the outside view," Niki added, "so we don't really know his side, which is why it's up to you to talk to him and if you need us we'll be right here."

The room went silent once again as both boys stared at Jake in concern, who was silent in deep thought. "No," Jungwon said when he noticed a certain look in Jake's eyes, "if you cry I'll punch you."

"I'm not crying," Jake said with a soft voice, as if trying to hold back tears. "I just love you guys" he finally said, tears involuntarily dripping and a sob escaping his lips as Niki and Jungwon panicked and looked at each other.

"What the fuck do we do"

"I don't know"

Jake reached forward and hugged both boys as he cried, they instantly tensed up but awkwardly patted his back in comfort. "I'm sorry," Jake said after calming down from his sudden outburst, "I was just really lost and scared I was gonna get into that situation again and you guys really calmed me down."

"Of course," Niki replied, "just call us if you need us.

The sweet moment was interrupted by the dinging of Jake's phone. The trio all looked towards it to see the notification.
