PERSONALITY: Harper was once told she was like a 'stage manager understudy', and that describes her rather well. The woman is responsible and hard working, best at handling things behind the scenes and doing so subtly, though practically only ever steps up when she's sure no one else will. Like the kid in class who only raises their hand when the teacher's about to call on someone randomly, or the one to make a decision on where to eat when everyone else seemingly can't decide, the 'someone else' when a crowd collectively thinks to themselves that 'someone else will do it'— you get the picture. Though Harper is truly rather quiet, easily flustered, and reserved, she has gotten used to putting herself out there and taking risks out of perceived necessity, and it's gotten her far. Still, her temper is exceedingly short for most people— that, combined with her often intense cynicism and passive aggression, can make her difficult to be close to. Those who do stay rarely regret it, as when you're close to her the woman is humorous, thoughtful, and completely reliable. You ask her for anything and she will do her absolute best to try. Having been an artist since she was a kid, Harper is also incredibly creative and passionate about her art, though she shows it to almost nobody. After a lifetime of watching her family stubbornly refuse help or aid because of their pride, Harper has grown to do the exact opposite. BACKSTORY: Harper was the second child to Ethan and Riley Hoffling, though her brother Anthony was born not long before. Growing up she had a relatively normal life. Both parents were wonderful to her and her sibling, and when they divorced the entire family agreed it was for the best and the two remained close friends after, the kids switching between houses every two weeks. After the split, however, both parents began experiencing money problems thanks to now only having sole income. The woman had been planning to attend an arts university, but after a fire at her mothers bakery caused Riley to take out a loan, the fact her brother had just gotten into the arts school, and an honest talk with her parents about money, Harper changed her mind. That summer she spent all her time volunteering at several places around the city to get experience and build her resume. Senior year, any time not spent at school was spent at a part time job, and that money went into savings. When she finally graduated she couldn't afford to go to school full-time so she chose a few classes and continued to work where she could, assuring her parents that her decision not to pursue art as a career was entirely of her own volition. Thanks to a referral from her old school counselor she found a desk job right out of highschool. She was steadily climbing that ladder until Caleb approached her at the café and offered her a job, one she'd now been working for six years.
OTHER: -Has a pet cat named Miso -Constantly has dried paint or clay under her nails & often on her face, hands, etc. Many of her clothes are also stained by both. In the same vein, cat hair can also be found on most of her clothes -Collects cool soda bottles & cans -Very rarely buys anything new, prefers thrifting -Invested in her mother's bakery since she knew the woman wouldn't accept any money upfront. Father took the money she offered graciously, and has managed to get her brother several jobs since he won't take her money either. -She's 5,7 -Due to how busy she is she often ends up staying up all night to work on art, as that is the only free time she gets -Has a slight gap tooth she could never afford to get fixed, very insecure about it.
