Your brother eventually joined the fellowship right after their meeting, along with Aragorn, your friend's fiance. You and Arwen helped send off the two men along with their new quest. Praying for your brother, you know deep inside that he will be fine. The mere fact that your father has sent him for this quest, he knows that Legolas is capable of himself. However, when you looked over to your friend, you saw Arwen tearing up. You proceeded to comfort her after the send-off, hearing her story and how her father disapproves of her relationship with Aragorn. It was a good decision for you to stay over, this way you can help cheer up Arwen. The next day, you joined Arwen for a stroll in the garden as she tells you stories about her and Aragorn. Then suddenly, you caught a glimpse of a tall familiar elf from the shadows. You pretended to listen for a while to Arwen to confirm what you see. You caught Lindir lurking around the same garden as well, feeling suspicious you glared back at him when you caught his eyes. Lindir saw this and immediately went away.
Moments later, when Arwen finally rested, you went to look for Lindir. Finding him in the kitchen, you confronted him, "Hey, what were you doing earlier in the gardens?" Lindir got surprised by your voice and nearly dropped the tray from the oven. "W-what do you mean, my lady?" Lindir replied politely but with a hint of nervousness in his voice. "Were you creeping on my friend? If you are, quit it" you snapped angrily at him. "N-no It's not like that--" Lindir stuttered nervously. "Then what is it? You were eavesdropping on us earlier!" you cut him off, with your E/C glaring at him. Lindir sighed and brought the tray down to the table, "Yes I was eavesdropping, but not because I want to stalk your friend or creep on her." Hearing it made you mellow down a little, deciding to listen to his further explanation. "You see, I know Lady Arwen is sad because of Aragorn, and I wanted to know if she's doing well now. I even made her snacks, in hopes that maybe this can cheer her up" Lindir sadly said, while looking at the pastries he baked. Seeing the same sadness in his eyes from your first meeting, you calmed down. Your anger was instantly washed away by pity. "I-I'm sorry for snapping at you like that," you looked at your hands shyly. Lindir smiled lightly, "No it's ok. It's my fault too. I shouldn't have crept on you guys like that."
Lindir proceeded in making tea and bringing out the fine china. Out of curiosity, you wanted to confirm if your suspicions of him from the start regarding Arwen is true, "Lindir," you started. He responded with a small hum while pouring tea on the small teacups. "Why are you doing this for Arwen? Do you like her?" you bluntly said, wanting to get answers immediately. Shocked, Lindir immediately placed the teapot down and looked at you with a slight blush on his cheeks. He looked into your curious orbs and sighed, knowing that he cannot hide his feelings nor lie about them. Lindir just nodded at you to confirm. Getting the answer you wanted, you responded with an 'Ah' and turned your back, ready to leave him to his solitude. "But I never had a chance, that is why I'm just loving her from afar and trying to do my best as well to make her happy, even as a friend," Lindir said, making you turn around to look at him. Feeling sad, you sighed and went to tap his shoulder. "Why don't you try to fight for her? I mean, try to court her?" you said, "It's too late, her heart already belongs to another one. Besides, seeing how Lord Elrond disapprove of Lord Aragorn, what chance do I have?" Lindir began placing the cooled pastry on the plate.
"You wouldn't know if you won't try!" you scolded him. "What if Arwen losses Aragorn in this battle? Won't you try to court her? Who knows maybe your love can help heal her an--" you got cut off by Lindir, "And what? Be unable to protect her? I'm not as strong as Aragorn, nor as wise as him", "But you are gentle, and kind" you smiled at him warmly, placing your hand from his shoulder to his hand while looking at his brown eyes. Lindir blushed at your warmth, and how your eyes shone together with the sun rays seeping through the kitchen windows. He shook it off and proceeded to carry the tray for Arwen. You walked with him going to Arwen's room, and while walking you said, "You know I can help you." "No thank you, I think I don't want to ruin Lady Arwen's love life," Lindir said. "Not with that of course, I can help you cheer her up, as her friend I'm also getting worried at her state." you simply stated. "And how will you help me if you're also having a hard time making her happy?" Lindir returned the question. "Let's start by making the food that she likes," you said looking at the tray. He raised an eyebrow at you, making you chuckle at his reaction. "That's not her favorite snack, I know her favorite snack, I used to make it for her when I visit before" you stated. "Ahhh so you were the one who's always leaving our kitchen messy, I was wondering if Lady Arwen had a dwarf friend because whenever you visit the kitchen is in a terrible shape" Lindir teased. You pouted and he laughed at your reaction. Lindir and you entered the room where Arwen is lying, placing the snacks on her table and asking her if she needs something else. Arwen did not respond and began to drink her tea silently. You sat beside her to see if there's anything else you can do for her, but she told you in a most hushed voice, "Y/N, Goheno nin, you're supposed to be enjoying your stay here but I'm dragging you down with me. Please, do enjoy your stay here and don't let my grief taint you" she told you. Arwen is indeed one of your true friends, taking it as a sign for you to give her space, you nodded and silently left the room.
You went out of the room and looked at Lindir. "So um, she wanted some space for now. I haven't fully explored Rivendell yet, would you care to give me a tour?" you told Lindir, who is also waiting outside the room. He nodded and walked along with you as he began showing you the entirety of Rivendell, including his favorite spots.
