Summary: You and Hondo are training when Hondo goes overboard and accidentally hurts you

(Hope I did this request justice. Wanted to add a bit more to it, hope that's alright. Also this took a while since I haven't had much time to write since I get home and just immediately feel tired or stressed to no ends and just go to sleep for the night. I'm trying to break this sudden habit and hopefully the weekend will help with that.)

____

Something was up with Hondo; you could easily tell. The two of you were in the middle of sparing, both of you training for upcoming matches. You would be fighting Disco Kid and Hondo would be fighting Bear Hugger. Throughout your training Hondo seemed somewhat distant, that feeling only getting worse when the two of you were sparing. He was still throwing punches and dodging as usual, but his mind was just elsewhere. You were getting pretty worried about your friend and decided that you should ask him about it when you were finished.

Hondo threw his usual punches, which you easily dodged or blocked since you were used to his attacks by now, but something seemed to catch your attention. With each hit Hondo was putting more force and speed into his next punch, a tactic you could deal with but only for a while, and Hondo didn't appear to be stopping anytime soon.

"Hondo?" You asked in between your harsh breathing as you just barely dodged another speedy swing. Your friend didn't hear you and continued with his attacks, his brain to out of it with whatever was bothering him. You continued to try and grab his attention, even attempting to punch him back to reality but that just seemed to make things worse as Hondo let out a sudden Hondo Rush, which you were not prepared for due to the lack of fancy footwork, which was usually his tell that the attack was coming. The multiple punched hit you dead center in the nose, sending you stumbling backwards and to the floor with a short but loud yelp. That simple sound was what snapped Hondo back to reality as his eyes quickly scanned the scene before he realized what just happened. You sat up holding your nose in pain, taking one of your hands away to recognize the familiar look of blood.

"Jesus Hondo." You grumbled as Hondo rushed to your side, apologizing repeatedly in Japanese with a panicked expression. He carefully helped you up and led you to a nearby bench, letting you sit down before rushing off to grab some medical supplies, returning only moments later with a first aid kit. He took a seat next to you and popped open the kit, asking if you were okay with him dealing with the injury.

"If you don't mind." You chuckled, moving your hands to show that they were both covered in a dark red. You didn't take anything to personally since getting beat up was part of your job. Plus you knew Hondo didn't mean to be that harsh. Hondo on the other hand didn't share your mindset, grimacing at the sight of blood and fumbling for something to clean up the blood with a look of pure guilt. You noticed this but decided to hold your tongue for a moment while Hondo cleaned up the blood with a cotton swab, still muttering apologies and worried phrases in his native language. You sighed and raised a hand for Hondo to quiet down.

"I'm okay, Hondo. I've had worse than this." You explained, only to see Hondo shake his head and mumble, "I should of been paying attention. I- I-"

"Hondo. Injuries like this are apart of the job. If anything, I should know how to counter your little rush by now." You interrupted, trying to ease the guilt the boxer was going through. You didn't want him to feel horrible over something you could care less about at the moment.

"私は最近、正しい心の状態ではありません。(I have not been in the right state of mind lately.)" Hondo admitted, his eyes drifting down to the floor and his shoulders slouching. That same worry from before filled your heart as you gently placed a hand on the boxer's shoulder.

"What's on your mind? I had a feeling something was bothering you, but I was going to wait to ask you. I guess this is a good time though." You admitted, finally bringing up the subject that's been on your mind. Hondo's eyes widened and his face flushed a soft shade of red.

"It's nothing important." He responded in a rather quick manner, turning to face away from you and clasping his hands in front of him.

"Of course it's important, Hondo! We've been friends for three years now! Do you not trust me enough to tell me or-" You began, only to be cut off by, "No, no! It is not that, I just-"Hondo butted in while turning back to you with a shocked look before realizing what he just did and doubling back.

"T-This is not a good time, 信じてください (trust me)." Hondo admitted in a quieter tone, anxiety written on his face which only increased your own anxieties as you scooted closer to comfort your friend.

"Please. I'm worried about you. I don't care how stupid the problem is. I won't think any less of you." You explained, trying to get across just how you were feeling and that he had nothing to fear.

"And you kinda owe me." You added on with a smile while pointing to your nose, which had stopped bleeding. Hondo chuckled and nervously fiddled with his hands, taking in a deep breathe before letting it all out.

"I... may have developed feeling for you... and I don't know how you feel about that or if I should have told you." Hondo hesitantly confessed, looking up to you with hopeful eyes. You were stunned by the sudden confession, not expecting that to be the cause of all Hondo's actions. Hondo took that as a bad sign and immediately tried to save the conversation by saying that you didn't have to return his feelings, only for you to cut him off with a hand to his mouth.

"Is that what this is all about?" You asked with a bright smile, Hondo nervously nodding before feeling his face heat up when you leaned in to place a kiss on his cheek.

"Well you shouldn't be. I feel the same about you. I just thought you wouldn't see me as relationship material due to being a boxer." You continued, only to hear a short laugh from Hondo who gently moved your hand.

"Why would I care about that?" He asked with a smirk. Now it was your turn to blush.

"I don't know! I just assumed I wasn't your type." You laughed, admitting your own anxieties while leaning against Hondo who let out a content hum, finally realizing into the situation.

"さて、今、あなたは知っている。(Well, now you know.)"
