"That's enough Bella. You shouldn't speak to your grandmother like that." Michele fucking Rossi himself said appearing at the top of the stairs.

"You have no idea how much you don't have a right to say that to me, or to say anything to me for that matter, 'Uncle"." I said my voice wavering embarrassingly and tears stinging my eyes.

"We've done nothing but give you a place here, a home." He continued and I couldn't hold back my laugh even if I sounded crazy.

"I guess I should thank you for saving me against my will." I said. Of course his paranoid wife was behind him now clinging to his sleeve. He shrugged her off his attention still on me.

"You came in here looking like hell, it looked like you needed saving." God he was so painfully oblivious.

"Michele, she's hungover, we don't need to talk about this. Tomorrow is Mia's prospect dinner and she stressed about meeting the Don, she doesn't need this drama.Sara clung on to his shoulder again, and this time he spared her a glance.

"Mia's prospect dinner? Oh so that's why you're pissed about me fucking Luca" I laughed, Sara's glare turning murderous. "I should have known you'd want your sweet brat to marry up." I spat.

"That's enough Bella." Michele said and Sara held on to him once more. This was a shit show.

"Just leave her Michele. She's just jealous." Sara smiled at me and I wanted to claw her eyes out. How could I be jealous of these sick fucks?

"Sara is right mio figlio," Victoria chimed in before turning to me, "Bella you know what I expect of you, so when you remember it clearly, it'll make all of this easier for you." She finished sweeping past me and up the stairs.

Sara must have been relieved by Victoria's confidence because she followed her leaving me and my father alone in the foyer.

" It must be quite odd to you that you're expected to be married to someone you don't know after living in America, I also hated the idea when I was younger and naive." He started and the fact he was trying to sympathize with me of all people made me hate him more.

"I don't care what Victoria thinks, I'm not marrying someone I don't know."

"My Mia is expected to marry too. Although she thinks she's in love with that Luciano boy,she-" I cut him off.

"And they're engaged?" That was all I wanted to know.

"Not formally no, we're proposing the marriage at dinner. The Rossi's are the third most powerful family behind the Capaldi's and Luciano's. I'm a Capo, my daughter is more than qualified to be with the Don."

"It all makes so much sense now. She wants me gone because I'm in the way of her perfect rise to power.Because she can't manipulate me." I chuckled still in disbelief over how power hungry my 'family' was.

"You're not in the way bambina, you're just making it hard for us to be your family. The rules are in place to keep us together and strong. Don't take them so personally, it causes you more heartbreak." he said trying to convince me to give up my choice like he did.

"Thanks for the pep talk, but you're still too naive. Sometimes the people you call family don't always have your back." I said and headed to my prison cell for the next 24 hours.
