the van honked we all look over at kie and JB In the van "bus is leaving!" John B shouts at us we start running faster JJ hoped in then Pope JJ peaked his head out holding his hand out for me I grab it and he pulled me wrapping an arm around my waist to stop me from face planting once I steady myself I expected him to let go but he held a tight grip as if I was gonna slip at any moment "wait wait slow down" JJ said giving me a look that said 'watch this' I already knew it was something dumb
"hey! You little pricks" Gary shouted "you're gonna give him a heart attack" kie said from behind us which made me laugh "come on you're so close you can do it there you go" JJ said to him as JJ slowed the car down and Gary sped up JJ grabbed the empty beer can from me and handed it out to him just to through it at him I smack his chest a smile tugging at my lip at his stupidity "they don't pay you enough bro!" I shout looking out the door JJ head popping beside mine I began waving at him and flashing him a smile
"JJ and Tes stop it" kie said not being able to handle her laughter she pulled mine and JJ shoulders back making us lean against the other side of the car laughing he still had a grip on me my phone dinged signaling I had a text I pull my phone out reading the message my laughter dying out 'I miss you' the message read from my boyfriend a small tint of pink washes over my face I quickly reply I look up to see JJ looking down at my phone as well I shove it back into my pocket as he removed his arm from my waist shaking his head going back to the topic
"oh come on that sort of initiative is just begging to be pushed" JJ said making the others laugh I lean my head up where Pope and John B are sitting "hey could you drop me off at Rafes?" I ask making Pope groan John B made quick eye contact before putting his eyes back on the rode "of course" he said I nod "thank you" I say patting his shoulder and sitting down again next to Kie this time as we began ranting about climate change together

Then there's John B also my best friend since third grade the glue to the group his house is named the designated hang out an old fish shack on the March the Château as his dad used to call it his dad disappeared at sea nine months ago looking for a shipwreck who disappears at sea these days? I miss him he was like a second dad to me or more of a dad than my actual dad
That's me I actually live on figure eight I have a nice house and nice things but my family not so perfect as everyone may think my dad and my mom never wanted kids me and my brother were accident and they most definitely treated us like one me more than my brother for some reason
they never physically hit me but the words they say hurt that's where John Bs dad came in he let me stay with them all the time he even tried getting custody of me once but my parents made it all go away with their money until he vanished my life just like John bs went to shit i started dating Rafe in the beginning he was super sweet buying me flower taking me on dates showing me off but now it feels like he doesn't care he's always in a angry mood and never wants me to do anything i know that's because of his dad so i don't hold it against he is the person who loves me the most and hurts me the most
