Alice's POV
I stood right by Luke, hearing his slightly choked sobs. We were heading home after the emotional funeral, not being able to stay for much longer. I could feel my heart breaking into tiny pieces as I heard his sobs, quiet and steady. Not being able to take the feeling of a knife being stabbed into my chest over and over again, I stood up on my toes and put my arms around his neck, hugging him tightly.
I could feel him sinking into me, his arms around my waist and his face burying itself in my shoulder. He bent down a little, making me stand on the heels of my feet. I could feel a few tears running down my own face, but I sighed, looking here and there to get the waterworks to stop. I needed to be strong for Luke. He had just lost his twin sister, and he couldn't afford to start taking care of me.
As the black car came by to pick us up, Alex inside it, I looked back at Serena and Ajax. They were gonna take their own car back home. I had told them that I would take care of Luke. They were very thankful, because they were obviously too heartbroken to take care of themselves, let alone another person. Not that they didn't love him. They just needed some time to themselves, which I found completely understandable.
I pulled away from Luke, grabbing his hand and getting inside the car. He got in and moved beside me, his eyes still watery. He had stopped crying, but I could see the despair on his face. I wished with all of my heart that everything was normal. That Luke, Stella, Reyna and I were still in school, waiting for the bell to ring so that we could go to the beach again.
Luke was squeezing my hand tightly, and his eyes were closed, his head resting back against the top of the seat. I could see his Adam's apple bobbing up and down as he gulped down his sobs.
Soon, we were outside my house. The driveway was empty, because Mom and Dad had gone to comfort Ajax and Serena. Reyna was at her own house, and Alex was soon going over to her place to help her out.
"Thank's, Alex. Tell me how Reyna's doing, okay?", I said, looking at him through the rear view mirror.
He nodded, saying, "Don't worry about it. I will. And if you need anything else, make sure to call me, okay? I'll be at Rey's place."
I smiled at him thankfully. Although Alex could be a total, gloomy bastard at times, he had a good heart. He was always willing to help us, and he put his all into everything when it came to Reyna. I knew that he was going to be good to her.
I got out of the car, hauling Luke along with me, and quickly turned my keys in the lock of the door, taking Luke and I inside. He went straight towards the couch, taking off his shoes, black suit coat, and lying down, putting his arm over his eyes. For a second, I just stared at him, not knowing what to do. I myself was so shocked at the... situation that I couldn't even process the fact that Stella wasn't alive anymore.
I walked towards the kitchen, pouring a glass of cold water and drinking it. I then grabbed another glass and took some water to the living room for Luke. I was anxious. Other than the continuous crying that he had done, he hadn't really shown any emotions. Was he angry? Sad? He obviously was, but from what I had seen, people always had two main emotions that were fueling a feeling within them. I didn't know what the second emotion was, and I was scared to find out.
Once I walked closer to Luke, he took his arm off his eyes, and sat up, taking the glass of water from me and giving me a small smile. I tried to return it, but I was afraid that it looked more like a grimace.
"Isn't it so weird? Two days ago, she was alive. Not healthy, but alive. And now... she's gone. She isn't here anymore, and we'll never see her during our lifetime again.", he whispered, putting his elbows on his knees and bending forwards.
I looked away, not knowing how to reply. I had experienced the feeling before. It definitely wasn't a nice one. He looked at me, and I could see his eyes widening as he realized.
"Oh sh*t! I'm so sorry! I completely forgot... I'm so sorry!", he said, looking alarmed.
I tried to smile at him, saying, "It's okay. Don't worry about it. I understand where you're coming from. If I was in your place, I would've done the same."
I could see him staring at me curiously, as if he was thinking about something. He gulped nervously, sighing.
"I... do you really want to know? What happened, I mean?", he asked. He then looked away, chuckling at himself. "What kind of question is that? I mean, are you ready?"
I really wanted to know, but I was skeptical. He had just gone through such a huge loss. Wouldn't bringing up his traumatic experience just do more harm? So I decided to say what any sane person would.
"I am. But what I really want to know is if you're ready. Are you sure about this?", I questioned, watching him with curiosity.
He nodded determinedly, looking as if he knew what he was doing. I sat down on the couch next to him, watching him curiously. I was scared. No, I was terrified. I was about to learn what Luke had gone through, and what had made him do something as extreme as faking his own death. But I was as ready as I could ever be. As Luke opened his mouth to start speaking, I bit back all of my fear.
And he told me. Exactly what had happened.
You know I'm ending on a cliffhanger! *smirks* Did you people enjoy it? Make sure to comment, vote, share and not kill me! XD Love you guys! Peace out!
