"What? You're going outside again without telling us?"
I averted my eyes from my mother, looking down. I'm doomed. She caught me sneaking out again.
"Mommy, please?" I begged. "I just really want to go outside and learn how to ride a bike."
"Y/N!" she shouted, massaging her temples. "You know I get so worried about you. I don’t know what I’d do if something happened to you!"
I bit my lower lip. "But, Mommy. I just want to go outside."
She sighed and stepped closer. I thought she was going to scold me again, but instead, she pulled me into a hug.
"Fine," she said in defeat. "How can I say no to my one and only baby?"
My face lit up, and I hugged her back. "Thank you so much, Mommy!"
She smiled as she pulled away. "I’ll be leaving now, baby, okay? Take care of yourself while I'm gone."
My smile faded, but I forced one anyway since she’d already agreed.
"Okay. Take care, too."
She kissed my forehead and left, closing the door behind her. I took a deep breath, lying on my bed. After a moment, I made my way out of my room, ready to leave the house.
"Are you really sure your mother agreed?" my yaya asked.
"Yes."
"You're not good at riding a bike, Y/N. Let me come with you."
I shook my head and smiled. "Yaya, I can handle myself. Sooner or later, I'll be riding a bike without getting injured."
She sighed. "You're always getting hurt, Y/N. You come back here with wounds every time."
"It doesn’t hurt that much, Yaya."
She sighed, exasperated. "You always have an answer. I can’t win against you."
I hugged her, smiling.
"Going outside again?"
Yaya and I turned to see my older sister standing in the doorway, arms crossed, eyebrow raised.
"Why? Is it bad for me to go out again?" I asked.
"You're answering me back, huh?" she said angrily. "Y/N, your precious mom never scolds you, no matter what you do. Meanwhile, Kin and I get yelled at for not taking care of you."
I rolled my eyes. "I don’t care if Mommy scolds you. It’s fine since you’re just living here!"
Yera glared at me. "You're so mean!"
She moved closer, but Kin, who had just arrived, held her back.
"Yera!" Kin's tone held authority. "Stop wasting time fighting with her. We're older than her."
I looked away. Yeah, that’s Kin, my supposed older brother. He’s just like Yera—they act nice around Mom and Dad but turn on me when they’re gone.
"Why do you always defend that spoiled brat?" Yera snapped. "No matter what we do, she always has an attitude with us!"
"Just let her be."
"Let her be? We’re not kids anymore, but she still acts like one!"
"Let’s go inside," Kin insisted, finally leading Yera back into the house. I rolled my eyes again.
"You're mean to them, Y/N. They’re your siblings," Yaya said.
"I don’t care. I’m leaving!" I took my bike and left the house, pulling it along until I reached the park. I sat by the fountain to relax.
