"Hi MTV, this is Drew Ray Tanner-"
"And Jordan Cameron-"
"And this is Music to Blank To."
"Okay. First prompt is 'Hanging with the Cast of Riverdale,'" Jordan read.
"It's been a few years now and there's always a point in the season where everybody is just, like, turning up, having a good time and the trailer is bumping the music. Especially on the days where, like, everyone's together. The one that I feel like everyone kind of gets behind is, like- I've been listening to 'Laugh Now, Cry Later' by Drake."
"That's a good one. I think we hear that when we hang out a lot. Another one is the Friends theme song."
"Oh, yeah!"
"Everyone starts singing along to that one and it's a bunch of fun."
"Next up, 'Feeling Romantic.' Listen up. Listen up, fellas. I got two songs for you, alright? 'Darlin', Darlin', Baby' by the O'Jays and 'Close the Door' by Teddy Pendergrass. 'Close the Door,' ooh-wee. Like, you guys should cut in a little bit of that song right now."
"Stop telling them how to do their job!" Jordan playfully scorned.
"Okay, okay. But really, you should. It's a great song. That song is fuego. Jordan," he looked at her intently through the screen, "these better just be romantic songs because I know you ain't going around and kissing no one."
"Drew, I'm eighteen. Suck it up." They both laughed. "Alright, my romantic song... I have to go with 'All of Me' by John Legend. It's a classic and I've always found it to be a really good song about what love should really be. Alright, alright, we got 'Karaoke' next."
"'Kiss' by Prince."
"Yes!" she clapped.
"I tried my best to do that song justice, but I just really can't get the key right. Nobody can sing like him and I- But I try my best, but I just think it's the funnest song to perform."
"So I have two that I usually go for depending on the situation. I am a huge theater nerd, so when I go for a really good performance and more emotion, I'll do 'Burn' from Hamilton."
"You are really good at that one."
"Aww. Thank you. Anyway," she continued, making him laugh, "when I just want to do something a bit more fun I'll do 'American Boy' by Estelle."
"'Favorite Riverdale Musical Moment,'" Drew read the next song prompt. "Definitely when we did the Heathers musical. It was one of those, sort of, pinch me moments where you look around and you're like, 'Wow. I'm surrounded by such amazing people. I'm having such an amazing time and I don't know if I'll ever experience something like this again.'"
"I have to agree. I think Heathers was one of the most fun episodes we've done, but doing the 'Seventeen Reprise' was such a special moment when we're all one stage and working together and that doesn't happen too often, so yeah. It was amazing. Onto our next wonderful song... 'Remembering your Childhood.' Ooh."
"I'll continue the trend of going first."
"Yeah, I have to think a bit more on this one. Go ahead."
"Mine is 'Keep Ya Head Up' by Tupac. I was asked to take the trash out one day and I'm taking out the garbage and sitting there on the ground is a Nas album. So I picked it up, never really heard of hip hop before. I think I was, like, nine years old. Fell in love with Nas, fell in love with hip hop and that sort of led me to Tupac."
"Mine would probably be 'Story of My Life' by One Direction. I listened to that a lot. 'Party Rock Anthem' does bring back some memories though with singing with my friends."
"You're supposed to pick one."
"You picked two on the other, now it's my turn."
"And you already picked two."
"But how can I sum my childhood up into one song?"
"Fine," he pretended to sigh and they chuckled before he read the next prompt. 'Songs that embody your characters on Riverdale."
"I'll go first this time."
"Go ahead."
"When I think of Aminity, one of the songs I often think about is 'She's So Gone' by Naomi Scott from Lemonade Mouth. And the reason is because I think it really describes the journey that Aminity goes on throughout the seasons. She starts off as this really timid and shy girl who's being abused by her father, but as she grows and heals, she turns into this, sort of, badass young woman and I find that so powerful about her. She still has that part of her in her, but that's really not who she is anymore and that's what that song showcases."
"That's a good one. As far as Fangs goes, Fangs is really, has always been this, sort of, fish out of water from the other side of the tracks and that kind of stuff. The soundtracks and the score to 'If Beale Street Could Talk' really put me in that mood and kind of ground me in that emotional weight or it all. Last one, 'Songs you would recommend to a fan.' 'Loyal' by PartyNextDoor. No hesitation. When I'm going for a run, when I'm going for a drive, when I'm hanging at home, doing chores, when I need to get pumped up, when I need to feel like, 'Okay. I got to, like, dig deep.' That song does it for me. I love that song. I'll never get tired of it."
"I would say 'Light' by Sleeping at Last. Opposite to you Drew," she said, causing them both to chuckle, "this song really calms me down and centers me. Whenever I'm dealing with anxiety or I'm sad or if I just want to, sort of, unwind and calm down, that is the song I go to. Most of his stuff does that, but 'Light' was the first I discovered and it's my favorite."
"And we're done. We did it."'
"Hooray," Jordan smiled.
"Hope you guys liked our playlists. Make sure to tune into Riverdale every Wednesday."
So I couldn't get this video to link since I found it on Twitter and not Youtube, so sorry. What did you guys think about the songs I choose though? What are some of the ones you would have chosen for yourself or for Aminity? Feel free to comment below! Thanks for reading!
