Dylan holds Autumn's hand as they stand in front of the group of people they have been trying to defeat. Nereza's army and Damien stand across from them, and they face off in a large field. Damien stands beside the male illusionist and the dreamwalker.
Behind Dylan and Autumn, stands Jake and Arwen. Behind them, is Hazel, Ramiel, Emma, and Arlo, and Navi. They are outnumbered greatly by those in Nereza's army. But they do not care about that fact, since now, they have a secret weapon up their sleeves.
Autumn squeezes Dylan's hand as Damien walks up to them, his brown eyes blazing with excitement. Damien stops walking and folds his hands in front of himself, and he smiles at them.
"Hello there," Damien says. "So, what brings you here?"
"I think you know why we're here," Autumn says. "Stand down and leave us all alone, Damien, or we will kill you."
Damien laughs. "You think you can kill me, Autumn? Please. You're clinging to your 'best friend' so tight that I am wondering if you're more scared of me than you're letting on."
That is when Dylan speaks up. "Back off, Damien. You are not going to hurt any of us anymore. We can and will destroy you."
"Destroy me? Ha! You're clinging to that bitch like she's your lifeline!" Damien laughs. "You really don't know what I am capable of. Perhaps I should show you!"
"Enough!" Arwen snaps. She and Jake step forward, standing on either side of Dylan and Autumn.
"Who the hell are you?" Damien asks.
"I'm Jake, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to help unmake you. This is Arwen, Autumn's mother, and she's here to utterly obliterate you."
Damien snorts. "You have been watching too many superhero movies, boy. Go home, this isn't your fight."
"Oh, but it is," Jake says. "It became my fight when you hurt Autumn."
"Oooh, looks like you have competition, Dylan. Looks like maybe your girl doesn't love you as much as she says."
Anger ignites in Dylan's chest, and he throws his hand up, ice bursts free from him, and it swirls around Damien in a threatening stream that hangs inches from Damien's face. He stares at Dylan with a disinterested look on his face.
"The thing about you, Dylan, is how predictable you've become. Perhaps we should fix that." Damien snaps his fingers, and suddenly, something appears behind Dylan and Autumn, and it grabs hold of Dylan and shoves him back away from Autumn and the others, throwing him to the ground.
Dylan throws an ice spear at the creature, which is one of the creatures made of shadows that stands roughly ten feet tall. The beast looks like a human-bear mix, but it is all black shadows, nothing else.
The shadow thing swipes at Dylan, drawing blood as it cuts into his leg. He shouts and throws more ice at the thing's face. It roars with rage and then, darkness swallows him whole.
