I want to be Five Again

20 2 2

I want to be five again;
Carefree and wild
And dance in the rain.
When my laughter was real
And my eyes reflected my smile.

I want to be five again;
Sobbing loudly in my mother's lap
Instead of silently under the shower tap.
When my leg was broken
And not my heart.
Not a care in this world
Except my mother's warmth.

I want to be five again;
Exploring nature and doing fun things,
Instead of curling up in bed
and burying my feelings.
When I could speak without any fears
Instead of hiding my insecurities and my tears.

I want to be five again;
When friendships were real
And in 'true love ' I believed
When looks had minor importance
And against injustice,
Everyone took a stand.

I want to be five again;
When being with family
was actually fun.
And people weren't discriminated against because of colour, gender, size or religion.

I want to be five again;
When smiles were genuine
And people helped their fellow human beings.
When toys were the only things
With which we played
And persons' trust weren't betrayed.
