chapter thirteen.

Matthias waited in the shadows as Katherine played her little mind game, both them and Elena arrived at the same time. Elena had only briefly greeted Damon before being dragged away byStefan, so Katherine waited before making her appearance.

"Good morning Damon." Katherine greeted pretending to be Elena.

Damon gave her a fake smile before suddenly rushing at her and pushing her against the wall in a choke hold. "What are you doing here?" He asked her in anger. "I told you to leave."

"What is your problem?" Katherine choked out, pretending still.

"You're wearing her clothes?" He asked her. "Like that's going to work."

"You think I'm Katherine?" She asked in confusion. "Why would you think that? Katherine's in the tomb." Katherine's acting worked as Damon lessened his hold on her. "Isn't she?"

Stefan suddenly arrived as Damon let go of Katherine fully. "What the hell's going on here?"

They both looked at him before Katherine spoke, "I don't know, you tell me. Is Katherine in the tomb or not?"

Matthias silently applauded Katherine when Stefan sped over to where Elena was. The two had spent the past few minutes talking about where they stood before Katherine started her acting scheme.

"What are you doing?!" Elena gasped out as Stefan held her against the mirror of his bedroom.

"How could you do this?!" He snarled with his hands around her throat.

"Stefan, you're hurting me!" Elena choked out as he tightened his hold on her.

He shook her, prompting her to cry out in pain. "Stop it, Katherine!"

Katherine leaned against the doorway, a smirk on her face. "Stop what?" They both looked towards the doorway where Katherine stood. "It's getting really easy being you." She told Elena who was glaring at her.

Katherine and Elena were at opposite ends of the room, Elena was pacing though, and Matthias had yet to let it be known that he was there. He knew that his identity was or was about to found out and while he really didn't want that, he would soon be known as Klaus' twin brother.

"What is she doing here?" Elena asked while pacing.

"When we killed Elijah, it broke the compulsion and freed the bitch from the tomb." Damon told them both.

"How's that possible?" Stefan asked with disbelief.

"He's an Original." Katherine told him while looking at his quill. "They have all sorts of special skills."

"I don't want you here." Elena told her honestly before looking to Stefan. "Get her out of here."

"You need me, Elena." She told her. "You all do." She added in.

Stefan scoffed, "Like hell."

Katherine leaned against the table, facing Stefan and Elena. "We all want the same thing... Klaus dead. Yet here you all are, running around like chickens with their heads cut off."

"I don't need your help and I don't want it." Elena told her, wanting nothing more than Katherine to be gone.

"And that's incredibly stupid of you." Katherine told her. "Do you know where Klaus is? When he's coming, what he looks like?" She asked them all.

Damon stepped forward, "If you know something, say it or get out."

"Fine." Katherine sighed, "Then I'll just go to the grill and have some lunch..." She looked at Elena, "Maybe Aunt Jenna's free for a bite or better yet, let me call Matthias."
