I remember watching Blues Clues when I was just a young child. I remember singing along with the love of my life
"We just a got a letter! We just got a letter! We just got a letter! I wonder who it's from!" We'd sing together. Sure our love was far apart but it was there. I watched the man I loved from outside the screen. Everything was perfect... till it wasn't. Eventually the day came and Steve was saying goodbye. I didn't understand why he was doing this to me. I remember sitting there crying
"We were supposed to be together forever Steve! I love you!" I cried out. I watched him say goodbye to all of my friends as he picked up his bags
"Well... Uh, Tickety, let me know when you count to 50, okay?" Steve asked
"Okay" Tickety said
"Ooh, Side Table, good luck with the singing" Steve said
"Thanks, Steve" Side Table had said
"Well... guess, I'm off to college" Steve said
"NOOOO! STAY WITH ME!" I yelled out
"You mean it's time for 'so long'?" Joe asks
"It is?" Side Table asked
"Already?" Salt asked
"Yeah, but we'll sing one more song" Steve said
"I'll sing with you!" I cried as I held my TV
"Thanks for doing your part! You sure are smart! You know with me and you...! And our friend, Blue! We can do anything! That we want to do!" We sang together. The tears were warm against my soft skin. My eyes were hurting and I could tell they were puffy. The horn honked
"It's the bus" Steve says
"NOOOO!" I yelled
"The bus is here" Tickety said. Steve and Joe began walking away
"TAKE ME WITH YOU!" I yelled as they ran to the door. I saw the bus outside waiting for him
"Good-bye! Good-bye, Steve!" Everyone said
"Bye-bye, yeah, I'll miss you, too. Joe, remember, Blue's paw prints will be on the clues" Steve said
"I'LL NEVER FORGET YOU!" I sobbed violently
"Blues clues?" Joe asked
"Exactly" Steve said as he began to walk out. Only to stop and come back. He set down his suit case and turned towards me. He walked up to me
"Thanks again for all your help" He says before grabbing his stuff and leaving
"ANYTHING FOR YOU!" I cried. To this day those memories make me sad. Knowing the one I love was gone. It's been so long since then. I would always remember the emptiness in my heart after that day. Nothing would ever be the same... until it was. He came back. I was scrolling on my phone when I saw it.. when I saw him. He was older now with glasses and a hat. He was still as handsome as they day I had met him all those years ago
"Hi, you got a second?" He asked
"Of course, I have all the time just for you" I say
"Okay. You remember how when we were younger? We used to run around and hang out with Blue and find clues and talk to Mr. Salt. Freak out about the mail and do all the fun stuff. And then one day, I was like, 'Oh, hey, guess what? Big news. I'm leaving. This is my brother, Joe. He's your new best friend'. Then I got on a bus and I left and we didn't see each other for like a really long time" He says
"I remember, I remember!" I say as tears began to fall down my face
"Can we just talk about that?" He asks
"Of course, Steve" I say with a smile
"Great. Because I realized that, that was kind of abrupt. I just kind of got up and went to college. And that was really challenging by the way, but great because I got to use my mind and take a step at a time and now I literally am doing many of the things that I wanted to do. Then look at you, and look at all you have done and all you have accomplished in all that time. It's just, it's just so amazing. Right?" He asks
"Yes Steve" I say sobbing
"I mean, we started out with Clues and now it's what? Student loans and jobs and families. Some of it has been kind of hard. You know?" He asks
"I do it's been so hard" I say staring at him through the screen
"I know, you know. I wanted to tell you that I really couldn't have done all of that without your help. And in fact, all the help that you helped me with when we were younger is still helping me today. Right now. And that's super cool. I guess I just wanted to say that after all these years. I never forgot you, ever" He says
"I never forgot you either. I still love you Steve!" I sobbed violently
"I'm super glad we're still friends. Thanks for listening" He says walking off screen
"Come back!!!" I cried. After all those years, I heard his beautiful voice and saw his beautiful face. I felt so many emotions, but I knew that this time... it would be the last.. I had to accept that we would never be together. It was too much for the both of us..
