Christmas morning came as quickly as it had passed.

It was quiet in their home when the day had finally arrived, another reason Jungkook hated Christmas.

There was no more happy and laughing once the party was over. When the party is over, the boy is snapped back to reality, where mom and daddy hate each other. Big brother comes home from the city and gloats over all his accomplishments, and there goes father asking him why can't he be more like his brother. Then he gets to sit around the tree and watch as everyone else opens their gifts while his father tells the boy doesn't get any presents this year because in his father's eyes he doesn't deserve it.

When he goes back to school from the holiday break, he gets to pretend. When the teacher asks what everyone did for the holidays, he'll say something cheesy about enjoying his family's presence. When his friends ask what he got this year, he'll make something up while they all get to show off their new clothes and shoes and expensive gadgets.

Seasonal depression is alive and well in the Jeon home. Jungkook can't wait until this cursed holiday is over, but for now, he's stuck at the dinner table.

Everyone is silent. Nothing but the scraping of metal forks on the glass plate is heard. A typical dinner in the Jeon home, it's nothing new. His parents sent the occasional dirty glares at each other as Jungkook kept his head down, fork poking at the food on his plate. It was better if he pretended not to notice. He knows his parents are going through something. He wishes it was a divorce. For now, there's just deafening silence. The dinner table feels as stiff as ever, the tension in the room almost suffocating.

"Ah, Jungkook, I almost forgot how did things go with Seokjin? I saw you two talking, then you both disappeared up into your room," Mrs. Jeon unexpectedly asks, breaking the silence in the room.

The boy looks up at his mother with wide eyes. It was rare they'd ever spoken about anything over dinner. On typical days it was always about the mundane. She'd ask his father about work and Jungkook about school. The two would answer with the usual, "it was fine," and then the conversation would end there.

They'd been home together for the past three days, there isn't much to discuss, and honestly, the boy wasn't interested in chatting. Jungkook had been waiting all day to text his one and only friend Jimin. He was so excited to tell the older everything that happened that night with Seokjin. The boy's fingers were practically twitching in anticipation from thinking about it now.

"Jungkook," Mrs. Jeon calls again, knocking the boy out his thoughts.

"Uh right--It was fine. We played a game, and that was it. You were right as always. Seokjin was cool."

"Told you," She says with a proud smile.

"Seokjin?" Mr. Jeon questions.

"Ah, that's Ms. Kim's boy. They're the ones that moved down the street last month," She explained, filling her husband in before turning to look at the boy. "I'm glad you befriended him, honey. He needs a little guidance," She says, placing a head on her heart.

Jungkook frowns, puzzled. "Guidance?" He asks.

She chuckles, taking a sip from her glass of wine. "Well, I know you've already heard about Seokjin hanging out with that Min boy."

The Min's boy. Min Yoongi.

He's been the talk of the town recently after another student had seen Yoongi and some guy together looking a little too friendly. Everyone talked about it, and days later, Yoongi was outted. It was posted all over social media.
