Shadow Lover

Chapter 10

She storms past us. Izzy looks back at us. "Brooke go wake Alec. Izzy wake Hodge. We might have a lead on the mortal cup. How  can one mundane be such a pain in my ass." He walks out and I just sheig my shoulders. Pushing past Izzy.

I go to Alec's door and just walk in. I stop in my tracks when I see him shirtless asleep on his bed. I swallow quickly. Now I'm the flushed one. Get a grib Brooke. "Alec. Alec. Wake up." He opens his eyes lazy. The moment he sees me he is up straight.

"What's wrong?" I smile at him and sit at the end of his bed. "We might have a lead on the mortal cup. We think Magnus Bane took Clary's memories. Which makes sense. He is the high warlock of Brooklyn. So get dressed and meet us in the control room."

He runs a hand over his face. I stand up to leave but I'm stopped by his hand grabbing mine. "Why are you pursuing this?" I look at him. Question marks fills his eyes. "Because whether I like it or not she means alot to Jace and he means alot to me." Alec nods and let's go of my hand.

Now to see if the mundie left. I arrive just in time to see him leave with Clary in the doorway. I go and sit at the table. The others join soon after. "Magnus Bane. He's over 300 years old and as you can see he is not shy of every pleasure of every century." Hodge shows us photos of Magnus all over the world as he parties.

"Looks like the downworld's David Guetta." Izzy smiles at me and decides to answer Clary's remark. "Guetta is already a downworlder. Vampire? Have you ever seen him in the daylight." Alec is already irritated with Izzy's remark. I want to laugh but know it's not the best time. "Can we focus. This is not a joke."

Izzy lays her hand on my forearm. I look at her. "Someone needs to get slayed." She smirks at me and I'm going to pretend that I didn't hear it. "Alec is right. Magnus is one of the most powerful warlocks I've ever known." Clary looks back at us. "Why did he help my mom remove my memories?"

That is a good question. She must have something that he wanted. "Warlocks usually askes payment upfront before they do anything for anyone." Jace takes a seat next to me. "All the warlocks have gone into hiding since Valentine's return." Hodge stares at the screen and turns to us.

"Because Valentine is looking for the warlock as a way to Jocelyn." Hodge's rune begins to burn as he speaks. He puts the tablet down. "Hodge your rune." He lifts his hand. Showing that he's okay. "So how do we find Magnus?"

I shake my head and answer. "We don't. Magnus finds us. We'll set up a meeting. Somewhere protected. We'll get him out of hiding."

Izzy spins around and walks over to Hodge. "I know actually where to do it." She smirks at me. She takes the tablet from Hodge and brings up a flyer of a downworlders rave. Hodge starts to smile. "Where did you get that?"

She smiles at Alec. "During my surveillance of the downworlders. We know Magnus likes to party." Alec shakes his head. Not keen on the idea of a party. "He'll never go for it. Not with Valentine that tries to kill him."

Jace turns to me. "Of course he will. He'll blend in. Hide in plain sight." Clary seems against the idea too. Which I find suprising. "Trust me if Magnus is coming out of hiding he's gonna do it at the biggest parties of the year." Hodge nods and takes the tablet from Izzy.

"Never underestimate Magnus's eagerness of his greed." Hodge has a plan. I can see it in the way he talks. "Come with me." We all stand and follow him to the rune floor. There he opens one of the runes. It reveals a beautiful red ruby necklace.

Izzy is already drooling over it. "Is it real?" Hodge nods and pulls it out. "Yes and it's really valuable to Magnus. It was a gift from Magnus to his lover. Camille." This shocks me slightly. I can't really see them as a couple. "Magnus and Camille were lovers?"

She is not the only one suprised by this. "Warlock gets around." I hit Jace on the arm. He laughs at me and I smile. Idiot. "Magnus bought it in 1857. The ruby is laced with a spell that alerts the wearer of the presents of demons."

Izzy touches it. She is so inlove with it. "It's so beautiful." Hodge nods and look back at us. "Magnus has waited long to be reunited with this necklace. Offer it to him. He might just take the bait."

Jace immediately goes to send a fire message. Clary looks terrified that  Hodge would give up the necklace for her memories. As Jace leaves Izzy grabs my hand. "Let's go. Come on Clary you too." I roll my eyes. Knowing exactly what is waiting for us. Alec just laughs at us.

"Where are we going?" Clary is confused. She'll learn sooner than later how Izzy feels about parties. We enter her bedroom. She throws open her closet. I make myself comfortable on the bed. "What are you wearing to the downworlder party tonight?"

So it begins. Clary looks at me but I shrug my shoulders. "I don't know I was thinking about just wearing this." This makes Izzy giggle. She looks over at me but I avoid eye contact. "I don't think so. No downworlder would be caught that." Clary looks down. "Well I don't really have any party clothes with me."

Izzy squeal in excitement. "So you'll have to wear mine. Trust me whenever I dress Brooke, Alec can't keep his eyes off her." She looks over at me and winks. I roll my eyes. "Well he can't keep his eyes of her in general so .." Izzy giggles and nod. Seriously? They are talking like I'm not even here. "So true. Now I think you should try this one."

I see her holding out a short tight balck dress. "That dress is way to tight." Izzy shakes her head. "It's stretchy. Put it on." Clary groans and goes to put it on. Izzy smile in victory. Izzy gives her some heels. "I don't know Izzy. I'm more of a jeans and t-shirt type of girl."

Izzy rolls her eyes and sits down in a chair that's in the corner of her room. Clary comes out and I must say she looks really good. "You're so lucky to have such a flat chest. I could never wear that without a bra." Clary just smirks. "Okay now come on Brooke. It's your turn." Izzy jumps up and goes to her dresses.
